Auxie Carrier 5/1, her relief transferred, until they hire another relief for the 5/1 Auxie will she be a 6 day Auxie Carrier? Will this mean she will lose her one day on the full size route? And the Regular Carrier will need to work 6 days until they hire a RCA for the Auxie Carrier? Don't think I am asking this right, sorry for any confusion.

How about this. is a RCAs' first responsibility to the Regular carrier or to your assigned Auxie Route when you are a 5/1???

callofthewild -- As I understand it. [ The relief for the AUX route ( 5/1 ) has transferred. So until a relief is hired for the AUX, will the 5/1 AUX carrier lose her one day on the regular route? ].

-- Kind of rare for an AUX to have a relief.

-- What are the total hours? If the total of the evaluation of the regular route and the AUX route is more than 12 hours, there could be a problem. However, IF the AUX carrier can run both routes under eval, say with an LLV, manglement may overlook the 12 hour limit. ( of course, a knowledgeable RCA could grieve for the AUX hours )

-- POV or LLV routes?

-- Article 30.2.G.5. After completion of the assigned auxiliary route OR THE PRIMARY ROUTE ASSIGNMENT, a leave replacement assigned to serve the auxiliary route may be utilized on any other auxiliary route, or serve as a leave replacement or provide auxiliary assistance on any regular route.

- Based on the above, sounds like the AUX carrier is locked into 5 days on the AUX and one day serving the regular route.

-- If there is a PTF in the office, the PTF can serve the AUX when the AUX carrier is doing the regular route. Of if no PTF, offer the day's AUX work to another RCA in the office per Article 30.2.G.6.

-- Or manglement could reach out to some other office and grab an unassigned RCA.

5/1 - obligation is to primary first. Always.

If primary reg is out, aux carrier carries regular route.

Management must find someone to cover aux, unless, as bt noted, evaluated hours are 12 or under. Primary gets carried first, aux second. Primary must be carried in full; i.e., take primary's scanner, case and pull route, carry route, finishing duties, hang up scanner. Rinse and repeat for aux.

Is that how it's done? Not most of the time, unless aux carrier is a good carrier. ;)

Oi veh -- " Primary gets carried first, aux second. Primary must be carried in full; i.e., take primary's scanner, case and pull route, carry route, finishing duties, hang up scanner. Rinse and repeat for aux. "

-- When I was a 5/1 POV AUX, I was blessed with an understanding supervisor who let me use the regular route's LLV. I'd case, pull down, load both routes and delivery my AUX first as it was farther out, then deliver the regular route on the way back.

-- Just a continuing example of how different post offices operate - differently.

Thank you so very much, btdtret and Oi veh. I just know they (management) are going to try to jerk this Auxie Carrier around and I wanted to be prepared. PM ask me today some questions and I could see where it was going, I told PM to call District Labor office. The last time this happened the PM carried the Route, but we have a different PM now and she doesn't even come in all week I can't see her working Saturdays carrying a mail route.

This Auxie Route is almost a 5 hour route, the primary route is so overburden it is ridiculous. This is a RPO in another zipcode; but only 2 miles away.

POV ROUTE

Again thank you all so much.

callofthewild -- My bad! Should have asked about an "APO/RMPO" situation.

-- Regarding "overburdened"

-- Is the route outside the standard hours on the Table of Evaluated Hours ( over 57:36 hours )? or

-- Is the regular rural carrier assigned to the route not expected to stay within the annual guarantee for the route? Only two more days left in the guarantee year! If the regular is in 2080 / 2240 trouble, has manglement taken any action to provide relief, etc?

Your guess is as good as mine on that question...........2080/2240 problems, I can't see how this carrier isn't in 2080/2240 problems.....she hardly ever takes off; but does a lot of cutting off roads and time so maybe she is OK..........I have wrote about this route on this forum before.....it has almost 500 boxes and almost 140 miles....if it was counted right it would have to be a 60K (ha ha). Drives like a bat out of hell, has had 3 wrecks (all minor); but one of theses days she and the Postal Service won't be so lucky. She just won't give any of it up and the PM isn't going to make her....she is a member of the PM's posse, she knows how to work the PM.

They all have had a good time at the Auxie Carriers expenses.....it really is a sad story. Years ago when the Postal Service was consolidating PO's ....these two little po's less than 2 miles apart became one unit. The PM that hated this Auxie Carrier (since High School) (40 years of hate) got to be this Auxie Carries PM. Auxie Carrier had been waiting 7 years to get the Route in this one Route Office. The Regular was going to retire; but this PM got wind of the Consolidation and ask him to wait a year until the two Po's became one unit under her. So the RCA under her in the APO with 6 months more seniority would get the route. And so it happened, this Auxie Carrier has had to endure more than most under this abusive PM then she retired and made sure her friend became the PM so the abuse could continue............and you think you have had a rough time working for the Postal Service. There is always a much worst story.

callofthewild -- "They all have had a good time at the Auxie Carriers expenses.....it really is a sad story. "

-- Have you suggested the AUX carrier tell the PM that it is time to go 6/0!

-- Sure the AUX carrier could be told to assist on the regular route, but at least the AUX carrier won't be the primary.

It happened.... via a text message at 3:28 p.m. today. " You are running the Auxie tomorrow, I forgot to tell you".

How this came about: The RCA that has been doing the Auxie the last few weeks on Saturday had a vehicle breakdown on Tuesday and hasn't been able to get her vehicle back on the road, so she isn't coming in. The 5/1 Auxie Carrier had a vehicle breakdown and was told "no excuses, you will be here, borrow a car if you need to". She borrowed her daughters car and never missed a day. The RCA that can't make it to work Saturday has a yard full of cars (I know her mail carrier) (me), so that isn't the real reason, but whatever the reason, the PM shouldn't penalize the 5/1 because another carrier can't make it to work. I told her you need to follow the Direct Order; but please call the DR, this will be a easy win.

How many Grievances does this 5/1 carrier have?

And yes, I told her a PM can't schedule you via a cell phone text, and to not answer or respond to a text message.

Side note: this 5/1 carrier worked today with this PM; but she didn't talk to her or mention this schedule change.

Are these people stupid?? PM made the Auxie carrier work the Auxie Route instead of the Primary Route. Then the RCA that has been doing the Auxie on Saturday so the 5/1 carrier can do the Primary route was loaned out to another office.....pulled off her Primary Route.

So to recap: two Regular Carriers were pulled in with overtime pay to work when the RCA's assigned to the routes worked a Auxie at home office and one RCA was loaned out to work another Auxie route in a local PO ....so please explain to me how broke the Postal Service is when you have people to work their assigned routes but loan them out????

Same thing happened here. Regular called in by PM 30 minutes after start time. Rca that was on route is then sent to another office. Seems , in our area, there is a lot of pressure to help offices in need. Now that Rcas can be forced.

Oi veh -- " Primary gets carried first, aux second. Primary must be carried in full; i.e., take primary's scanner, case and pull route, carry route, finishing duties, hang up scanner. Rinse and repeat for aux. "

Did the same today, ran aux(6.5 hrs) and met new rca and finished last 3rd of his route... Right or wrong, depends on the big ??

The rest of the story: so I suggested the AUXIE carrier ask the PM for a form 8191....my thinking was there is no dialogue between the Auxie Carrier and the PM and maybe just maybe, if the Auxie Carrier would ask for a Grievance form and then the PM would ask why (this PM really doesn't have a clue) and the Auxie Carrier could state her position and then the PM will put a call into Labor and research it, things may work out. A miracle happened and they talked and worked it out. Win/Win. A small part of me wanted it to be filed on so this PM would be embarrassed; but there is always next time.

During the time the Auxie Carrier and the PM were working it out, the PM almost blew it when she told the Auxie Carrier " I could have you written up for INSUBORDINATION when we were talking on the phone after I texted you about working and you raised your voice". I was so proud of the Auxie Carrier when she calmly said " where were you when we were talking on the phone? PM said " In my car "....Auxie Carrier said I was on my phone in my home after my shift was over"...........you could do what??? Where do they get these people????

It never stops with this PM, another wrinkle, so the Auxie gets a new schedule and she is working the Primary Route this Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving) this is great Auxie can use the work. So, it came up Auxie said something to the fact she is going to get two big days on her check. PM said "OH NO, you are trading this Wednesday for NEXT Saturday". First of all it is NOT up to the PM and Regular to trade days with the Auxie carrier (9.2.G) but you can't trade a R day in advance.
