I got to academy tomorrow. I just finished orientation, shadow day and driver training and so far absolutely nothing other than the shadow day has pertained to the role of RCA.
The driver’s doing the training basically said it’s awful, they wouldn’t do it again or they’re quitting.
I'm sorry, that was unprofessional.
Beware of blind spots caused by placement of LLV mirrors. (I move my head in what I refer to as a parrot dance. I don't want to hit a pedestrian, or a motorcycle. I've even had cars hidden by the blind spots.)
I showed up to shadow and was immediately told the RCA hired before me had been there about 5 months and cried almost everyday the first 3 months.
Don't be silly, you won't have time to cry, and when you get home, you'll be too tired!
I kinda feel like I jumped on some insane ride, I have on the job training next week for 3 days and have already been told that I should be prepared to not get training and run the route on my own.
If your management is at all competent, or if they care what their bosses think, they should arrange help for you until you've learned the route. I used to come in on my own time to help, but they won't allow that anymore. In our office they will send out other subs to help you, and pay them for the extra time.
I’m pretty determined to make this work and J am definitely a self-starter and problem solver and one of the most stubborn people on the planet,
That "stubborn" thing will serve you well!
I can’t imagine someone without a very strong personality and determination making it past 90 days with what I’ve seen so far ?
Your may get stiff and sore from working/stretching in ways you're not accustomed to.
A hot bath with Epsom salts can help.
Good Luck!!!
