We had everything today! Like double Parcels Christmas! Plus Carolina Country an Electric co -op magazine for every box, Phone books distributed for tomorrow and beyond. Why the H--E--L_-l do they wrap each phone book ( Glorified Ad Mail) in plastic and put an ADDRESS SPECIFIC ADDRESS on EACH ONE adding more time wasted getting 650 of them in delivery order???

Did you take the time to check out the recipe in this month's Carolina Country? Sorry, I always have a laugh when those come out because I get about three of them and the next case over gets a ton of them.

-- Most likely the USPS promised the Electric co-op a lower per piece price if the magazines were in delivery order.

-- If you got them in order, probably lucky the plant didn't cut the bundles just run up the numbers on the sorting machines.

I'm talking about phone books addressed instead! I would just like to grab a phone book and toss it in the mailbox without worrying about the address which is so small it's like reading an ingredients label on a bottle of cough medicine!

-- Sorry, misread your OP!
no problem, you were also right about the co-op mags. Everyone gets one, why address them? And the bad addressed ones keep coming, even after being sent back for years? Free delivery? It seems they would update their mailing list if it cost so much to mail?

More revenue for post office. Simple as that.

Addressed = more revenue.

If you were to look into it you would find that mailers are not in the habit of giving money away
Even though during a count and so for the rest of the year they are going to pay you as a carrier more for an addressed phone book/a flat
than for an unaddressed one that would be a boxholder
They charge the mailer less for one with an address on it than for one that would be a boxholdrer
Years ago i dug into this issue with a PM about Advo's and she agreed and we both got our hopes up.........
I was present when she contacted the mailer and the mailer told her it was like1/3 of a cent or 1/2 of a cent cheaper by piece to put the address on them
do we need to spend any more time wondering why the PO is in trouble financially?
The mailers aren't dumb
makes you wonder about those in charge of the PO doesn't it?

I'm always wondering about them.

I'm not sure if this is true, at least today, but will double check.
