Amazon question

Sorry if this has been asked already and sorry if it has. So today I did my rural amazon route and upon return was told to start a city route. As I loaded the route a city carrier came back and took the end portion. As I was delivering another city carrier met me and took some and then I finished about 40 packages. Mind you upon my return two rural carriers came back unsure if they were sent home as I was already leaving but another got back 20 minutes after I left and was sent home. My question everyone keeps telling me to grieve it both city and rural carriers but supposedly you can’t which is fine but why was I instructed to fill out separate times for doing city route does the pay change or something?

File a grievance unless you didnt mind doing it. But really, city could file a grievance against you if they wanted too. For stealing their work.
I know city delivered parcels for the rural side once but i didnt grieve it because that was less off my back lol
I was happy they delivered it.

I tried said I couldn’t cause of Art 30.2.Q additional duties leave replacement whatever that is. Supposedly you get your hourly rate and the eval time for that route. Last I knew City wasn’t on eval and it was Amazon Sunday. Very confusing.

They are trying to screw you lol
Aint noway would i go out to deliver city if i didnt want too.

If the city should file a grievance what repercussions or trouble would I be getting into? I just did as I was told I just wanted to go home and didn’t mind cause they’ve helped us out before when we were short.

Wrong! File a grievance! We are not to cross crafts!!! Only thing they can get away with making you deliver is express.

You will get in no trouble. Grievances are filed against management. The grievance process is the way disagreements between workers and management are resolved. If a city carrier files a grievance and wins it (I don't think they will, but who knows at this point) the only impact on you would be that you would not be told to deliver those parcels on Sundays anymore. Please take some time to learn about the grievance process and how it works.

Two grievances were won in my neck of the woods.

An RCA was told to perform city-craft work on city territory. The RCA record exactly what packages and addresses they were. He gave that info to the local city steward and they won pay for their CCAs.

Another was when they kept having CCAs load RCAs LLVs before they showed up to deliver. A cease and desist was won and RCAs now get paid for that time.

So let me see.... the city carriers grieved and won $$$$ but the rurals just won a directive that it will not happen that way again!

In our office rural routes are routed with other rural routes and city is city routes. So rural never has any city packages and city never has any rural.

The issue isn't the routing - it's the fact that no USPS products are to be delivered on Amazon Sundays / Holidays. Therefore, regardless if you are delivering in Rural Territory or City it is seen as delivering Amazon products as part of their contract with USPS.

This is also why Amazon pays a different price to USPS on these days and expects everything to be delivered to the doorstep and not a mailbox.

Were these Amazon Parcels on Amazon Sunday?

This I could understand - If it was won because of "cross-craft" work I would be surprised. I want to think it was won because someone who is scheduled to deliver on Amazon Sunday should be entitled to the full day of work.

City & Rural have no “territory rights” on Amazon Sunday. It is in our contract. According to the City Stew, it’s not in theirs. Our mgmt will sometimes work CCAs if they aren’t working 6 days already. If a Grievance was won for a Sunday, good for them. Maybe it was a Local Settlement as I don’t see that going above that.
There is also no “rights” to which territory where Hub & Spoke are concerned. The working assignment list is alphabetical as ONE volunteer & ONE non-volunteer of all Spokes & the Hub together. Sometimes the names will fall with all of a Spoke working & a few or none of the Hub working. Sometimes it goes the other way. Sometimes it falls even. It is what it is & whether an RCA or ARC knows a “territory” doesn’t make a difference where Amazon is concerned.
