Amazon Strikes Deal With USPS That Maintains 80% of Package Volume

USPS has a roughly $80 billion budget, and Amazon represented $6 billion in annual revenue to the agency, according to two people familiar with the business arrangement.

So only 6 billion in annual revenue?? That's a very small percentage of the overall "budget". Then why is it if a route "loses" Amazon, the route is practically an aux?? The only thing (besides the bogus "Coverage Factor/ripoff %") that has made any meaningful difference in my route's evaluation has been Amazon!! And I'm still only a J route! Seems like the only people's paychecks that get gutted are rural carriers!! Get rid of 75% of supervisors and 1/2 the PMs and voila! Money problems solved! Wow, I should be PMG. I'd take much much less in salary, as long as I could have 2 days off in a row. Oh wait, we're Formula so even if I was a K, I still work Saturdays. J is ok for now, but still sucks!

Ooohhhhhhh.....lucky us. Those stinking bass-turds....🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Need to start another craft, and have all po mgmt deliver the analzon packages, since po mgmt can work 24/7, no overtime would be required, and would save the usps millions, and millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'s
Your welcome. 🤠🤠🤠🤠

I remember our union telling us rrecs is our fault because we kept complaining about not being paid for Amazon. I remember that yes because we wasn't being paid so all I wanted was a traditional mail count or just add in a factor for time to doors would of at least been something. Instead they changed up and lowered all our standards with rrecs, now how is that our fault? I say then change rrecs standards since they won't get rid of rrecs at least make the standards make sense!

Yep made mail pretty much worthless and then added the beautiful thing known as coverage factor knowing that the mail volume is down.

She mails rural et al -- "I remember our union telling us rrecs is our fault because we kept complaining about not being paid for Amazon."

-- The NRLCA board should share some of the blame too. X-President Dwyer said in one of the Q & A sessions that SHE never considered going hourly. Probably the same for most or all of the national board.

-- And Dwyer preferred doing a new compensation system in conjunction ( or is it conjunktion? ) with the USPS instead of having an arbitrator putting a compensation system together.

-- It is too bad that the membership didn't have the opportunity to choose between what the NRLCA-USPS created and what the Arbitrator might have put together - or ( gasp ) have the option to go hourly.

And adding to "DB's" "RRECS is the ultimate shell game, and the house ALWAYS wins..." The odds are never in favor of the rural carriers!

It either comes down to hourly, or technology. Isn't there a watch now that can count steps? An apple air-tag can be found with pinpoint precision. Our scanner should be able to do everything we need automatically. Get rid of DPM,LTM!! Managers are just using these as means for errors and to shift blame. Scanners can tell barometric pressure, temperature, speed, distance driven each day (no more averages), and everything else you would ever need. Example: When someone puts up a new box, they get a packet to fill out at P.O. and a sticker (QR) code to put in box. When I get to the new box I scan it and say active. It plots it and is now ACTIVE. NO DPM Crap. No LTM junk. There is so much technology at their fingertips. Time to load, office time, street time; there needs no separation. It's a hybrid of hourly and Rrecs. This current mapping and computer stuff is junk and wastes time. FLats and letters from plant in data daily. Everything is covered. You clock in, you work, you get paid. Simple. Don't make it too complex.

Oh so right and let's not forget the famous grouping, so let's see you have 800 reg boxes and you only stop 320 times, man stretch Armstrong can't top that! Makes no common sense that we already have a volume factor which that alone speaks for itself but then they say let's throw in a coverage factor as well. My mind says your volume already made your coverage! The worse to me is all them so called educated people that had their hands in this and signed off on this trash are so DUMB!!!!!!!!!...

I completely agree the technology is there but that doesn't solve the standards in place and the fact that new box doesn't credit for like 15 days if then? Top that off with no stop a few times and opps didn't pick up so start over. The technology sucks in my opinion unless we were being paid piece work, meeting a weekly quota but even that the po would make impossible standards to reach. Now the clock is the only answer because they won't change the standards or anything about rrecs. There isn't another choice.

Another USPS win and certainly another sweet(heart) deal. 🙄

Ups is "leaning away from lower yielding deliveries and focusing more on the premium side".
When will USPS do that?
Our motto is " We'll take all of the lower yielding products that no one else wants, because rural carriers deliver it for pennies anyway."

We don’t really have much of a choice, how exactly that encompasses Amazon I am not sure on. Can bet bezos has the money to lobby to make sure they get added in if not all ready.
