Amazon Sunday.. confused?

So it was my first time doing amazon Sunday and I had to go to a different office it was also my first time ever being in that office I'm also a new rca. So when I got there I saw some people from my office which I was happy about because I had no idea what I had to do, but they weren't that great of a help because I was confused I had no idea what we had to do, I was pretty much the last one to leave the office. When I put the gps everything was pretty good I was starting to get how it works and what I had to do, so one of the guys from the office was texting me making sure I was ok and if I think I'll be finished by 5 I told him I don't know but right now I'm doing ok he said if I do tell me in the next 10 minutes but I didn't see that text till later because I wasn't paying attention to my phone so everything was going ok than the gps was throwing me off taking me to place that didn't exist was just woods no streets to dead end areas so I started using my phone gps so I realize it was getting late so I texted him that's when I saw he's message and said yea I need the help but he already had finished, he's also a new rca started like 2 months before me. So I'm getting lost with the gps I didn't have many parcels left but the supervisors from that office was calling me n I told them what happened and they where saying I denied the help which I never did he didn't even say he was going to come or anything so one supervisor told me to finish the street I was in than come so I did so I was on my way back and another supervisor was waiting for me she started snapping at me and I'm confused she's like u where supposed to come straight back when we called and I'm like that's not what she told she was like yes I was next to her,so she pretty much telling me I'm lying than she starts telling me put this and that away but I don't know where anything is at it's not my post office and she gets all mad she's starts telling me they called your supervisor and this and that and the other supervisor not my supervisor she was saying she was pissed and I'm like what the hell I had no direction in what I had to do. So I want to know if this would affect my job? I mean that lady did not want to hear any excuses so I pretty much wasn't saying anything and now I'm nervous to talk to my pm which I'm pretty sure he's going to want to talk about it.

Postal logic would dictate they need another supervisor in on this one.  Don't sweat it' it was your first run and if the three stooges can't figure that out then oh well.

You have nothing to worry about. It wasn't your assigned office and a lot of offices treat "outside help" like crap until they either tough it out or don't come back. Sunday amazon is not worth my time. Some people love it, but not me. When you are new everything is overwhelming but it will start making sense. Take the next few months and learn as much as you can and also work as much as you can because in another 3 months Christmas season is going to start and believe me, you haven't seen anything yet!

Excellent advice from the 2 previous posts...

#1 don't sweat it... mgt people are mostly idiots...  <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

#2  Christmas is coming... they're not likely looking to get rid of anybody... and it sounds like you weren't doing half bad for a 1st time run...  <img title="Smile" alt="Smile" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-smile.gif" />

#3  Keep your chin up and you'll have the hang of it sooner than you think...  <img title="Wink" alt="Wink" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif" />

Supervisor ?  Haven't seen one for months !  Call supervisor only if appendage is severed and missing.  (BTW - The clerk on duty in not the supervisor.) --Schedule ??  By osmosis -- if not needed go home !  Scanner updates ?  Zero standup instructions.  Remarkable ! -- the job gets done regardless.

smm13 -- After such shoddy treatment, let manglement at your office that you would be more than happy to "unvolunteer" for Amazon Sunday deliveries.

I'm confused. Why you didn't have turn-by-turn printed directions? or even Direct Delivery on the scanner? Why were you using your own gps/phone gps? I'm sorry you had such a crappy first-day experience doing Amazon. When I was doing Amazon Sundays I always took the time to give the newbies a quick walk-through and gave them my number if they couldn't find an address or a way into a sub-division. The thing about Amazon Sundays is that it acquaints you with all the other routes you're eventually going to have to run at your own P.O.  In the long run, it will help you in ways you can't imagine right now.

Also, just ignore the people screaming at you. ALL Amazon Sunday parcels are to be delivered on Sunday whether they say Sunday delivery or not.  They should not have told you to stop what you're doing at 5 to go back to the office.  They just wanted to go home. That being said, you do have to do what they say. Let the regulars complain when they have to deliver a package marked L-12/98 and see how fast things change on Sundays.

My advice: find someone from your office who seems senior-rca-ish, or friendly, ask how they load their truck, and if you could call them with a question.  Also, maybe, hint, subtle like, the sooner you learn how to do Sundays, the sooner they'll no longer have to do Sundays.  That should make them your buddy real quick. Hang in there; it's only your first Sunday, many, many more to come.  And it does help with learning routes. Good luck.

I was an RCA when the Amazon Sundays stared.

I loved it.  Easy money.

Only suck part was the 7 day weeks for months on end.

This was before "Dynamic Routing"  when all you got was "turn-by-turn" Directions, so it may be different now.....

The hub would # the packages (sometimes even correctly).

TIP.....Check package #'s against sheet if they can be inverted like 69 and 96 or 15 and 51 put line under the bottom of # when you figure it out like <span style="text-decoration: underline">51</span> or <span style="text-decoration: underline">69</span>.

I would load them in groups of 10 in specific areas of the LLV.

1-9 around drivers seat

10-19 on mail shelf

20-29 under shelf

30-39 on floor on front left side of LLV cargo area (Behind shelf)

40-49 behind the 30's

50-59 behind 40's

60-69 on floor in front right side cargo area behind driver

70-79 behind the 60's

etc.

Really big stuff would go in center of cargo area

If the LLV had shelves in cargo area I would use them last.  Fold out of way if not needed.

Worked for me and was organized and quick.

BS

So they were texting you on your own personal phone.....Next time....don't give them your number or answer their calls. They want you=they come out and visit you=not gonna happen.

You sound like a person who is already a good RCA.....You care...
