My regular is out for about 2 months due to a surgery. I am her primary sub and an running her route 6 days a week (off on sunday). The weekly evaluated time is 53 hours. I was assuming that I would automatically get paid 40 hours straight time plus 13 hours at time and a half if I worked under the evaluated time and that i would get more time and a half pay if I went over 53 hours. I seems I was wrong. I was told that if I stay under 40 hours for the week I will get paid 53 hours straight time (this is not possible working this route 6 days a week). If I go over 40 hours I get paid the usual 40 hours at straight time plus time and a half for anything over 40 hours.

Doesn't matter evaluation, doesn't matter the route, doesn't matter days worked, etc. All that matters:

40 hrs or less --> evaluated
more than 40 hrs --> actual time (40 @ regular pay extra at 1.5 pay)

Just another way that RCAs get the short straw.

If you are typically running the route under evaluation: your best bet is to find another sub to fill in for 1 or 2 days a week. But you can't carry on those days. Even if you are on a different route the time still counts towards your 40 hrs for the week.

If you are typically over evaluation: well, then sit back and ride the gravy train...

Pay attention to your lunch hour (wink wink)extend it or take less of one. If your are running close say six days a week at 7r hours is 42 minus 6 half hr lunches equals 39 hrs getting you the whole 53. 1 lousy minute can screw you out of hours. If you cant do it i forty then take your time .

While I was still ignorant about how it worked, I lost almost $150 one pay period because I barely went over 40 hours, getting straight time vs the weekly evaluated time. Total BS. Never again. Nickie's got the right idea. If your manager is cool, they will work with you to make sure you don't get screwed. If 40 hours isn't going to happen, make sure you're at 49 or more. Anything less and you're getting screwed.

I didn't check the route evaluations (sorry feeling lazy) is this an H route and that's why you're working six days? At my place they schedule a day off unless it is an H....

Also, the k Rts are topped at 48.
So where are you getting 53 hrs?
It’s only a 45k if it’s a k Rt. And also, if k you would get a k day just like the regular would.... 731711F5-96A1-4097-AFAA-73E3626CE46D.jpeg

If you are going over evaluated continually, even on light days, research the threads that are titled something like “how do you beat your eval time?”
Many carriers posted on that thread and had great tips of how to reduce the wear n tear on your body resulting in lower times
And then if you really want to dig in on the mystery that is the rural craft, try searching threads with DACA in them
Lol ?
