Aux carrier 6/0--Amazon

The above carrier is being prevented from working Amazon, due to the infamous "district" saying person cannot work 7 days straight. Of course, this was not a problem when mgt dragged its you know what by not hiring anyone, & the person was working an unreal amount of days in a row. Well, someone has been hired, shocking.

Can this person be prevented from working Amazon elsewhere ? The aux route is approx 5 hrs/day.

Your lucky we have an RCA that has just taken their first day off since Thanksgiving other than actual holidays (Xmas & New years) that includes all the Sundays & MLK day for Amazon. They are on a 7 hour vacant route 6 days a week and Amazon Sundays I would assume 50 to 60 hours a week not a bad paycheck, but it gets old after a while. The mind set is get it while you can because it wont last forever!

-- I'll bet it was more of a OT concern the 6/0 AUX might be going over 40 hours before the end of the week.

-- Figure about 30 hours a week just with the AUX. The 2015-2018 contract now allows AUX carriers to be utilized just about anywhere AFTER completing the route.

-- Is the AUX carrier getting any additional hours assisting on other routes?

-- A good 6 plus hours doing Sunday Amazon would create a scheduling problem for manglement as the end of the work week approaches.

-- Safe to bet RCA's in other districts would be grateful for being not able to work 7 or more days straight.

"The person I describe above WANTS to work as many days as possible in a row."

-- That figures! Will manglement allow the AUX to work / assist at other near by post offices?

It doesnt seem like OT is much of a concern due to how long it took mgt to hire another RCA.

This person is rarely assisting on other routes.

The person does not seem interested in helping at other offices, you can guess, as to why.

So from what you are saying MGT CAN prevent person from working Amazon elsewhere ?

hockey94 -- "So from what you are saying MGT CAN prevent person from working Amazon elsewhere ? "

-- Certainly appears that way, although manglement will be sure to say it is in the best interest ( health wise ) for the carrier ( and less scheduling head aches for manglement )

-- Did the AUX carrier sign up on the Sunday Work List?

-- Does the office have one?

-- How to pay the visiting RCA?

-- Not to mention some RCA in another office who wanted the Sunday work, but the AUX 6/0 RCA was chosen would probably lead to a grievance.

-- If the AUX carrier wants additional work, anything in the area for a part time job? Of even a full-time 3 pm to 11 pm job?

What do you mean by “elsewhere”? If their office is not a Spoke of the Hub office, then its up to the mgmt at the Hub as whether they allow or need the assist.

Sunday signup goes up in April & September with RDWL signup. Designation 74s are last resort if needed but still can signup. Nothing is written about Des. 79. Mgmt may skip those RCAs that would be likely go over 40 hours.
Sundays are scheduled alphabetically by last name as follows:
ARCs, Volunteers (rotating), Non-Volunteers (rotating), Designation 74 Volunteers then Non-Volunteers after ALL other RCAs are working. If an RCA has scheduled leave in conjunction with Sunday, mgmt will skip them unless they notify mgmt that they are available.

If this RCA is in a Spoke office on the Volunteer list, they can file a grievance when they are skipped. Otherwise, they have no recourse.

There is no sign up sheet. Its 2 small PO's under the same finance number. The RCA that is now getting the Sun Amazon is assigned to one of the PO's.

By elsewhere I mean, other offices in the area that are in the same area. So what you guys have said above it appears that mgt can prevent one from working at different offices.

If the RCA is not part of the Hub-Spoke assignment then yes, mgmt can prevent them from working Sundays.
Interesting, because our office doesn't get Sunday delivery, and we are not part of a hub-spoke, but they forced our RCAs to deliver on Sunday at a hub-spoke office.

Around here it would be like finding a unicorn to have an RCA that WANTED to go do Amazon Sunday, no matter how many hours they had that week. I'm not sure there is a volunteer on a list in the whole county.
