Aux questions.

I'm on a 30 hour aux route, the regular wants a day off but we have no subs, can the PM make me work their route and have someone else do mine? Also, if I was to work that route, would I still earn leave? Please point me to where this would be in the contract. Thanks.

I think I know the answers but I don't have the proof right now. I don't think the PM can make you sign the 4240 on the regular route. However, you might have to do your route then do the regular route on a green card. I think if you sign the 4240 on the regular route you don't earn leave because it needs to be continuous working days on a route.

Is this a small office with one regular route and one aux route? What type of route is the regular route; does he/she work everyday?

I hope someone else can chime in with a more definitive answer with a source.

Kelp is correct. If the auxiliary is your primary, you do not have to give it up to run another route. You only earn leave on your primary, nothing else. Mgmt can have you carry or assist on the other route in addition to your primary, as Kelp stated. Search the knowledge base for reference if you haven't tried already.

If you are a 5/1 aux then you run the aux unless the regular for your /1 is out.

If you're a 6/0 then you run the aux route and can assist elsewhere afterwards.

Aux4ever -- You did not specify if you chose to run the AUX 6 / 0 or as 5 /1. With your "the regular wants a day off but we have no subs,", I am going with you are 5 / 1, which makes you the primary leave replacement when the regular needs / wants to be off. So in that case, manglement can have you fill in for the regular and have someone else run your AUX.

-- Manglement can not schedule for more than 12 evaluated hours in a day ( Step 4 -- R-96 ) - ( although the actual time to complete assignment(s) may take more than 12 hours ), so that pretty much rules out running your AUX and then a regular route.

-- For 6 / 0 and 5 / 1 AUX carriers, the new contract ( page 49 ) allows manglement to utilize AUX carriers to assist on other routes after completing their route, so you might get a portion of a regular route to run.

-- As others have posted, AUX carriers only earn annual and sick leave when working the AUX route.
