Auxiliary help...

I see a lot of RCA's posting about running parcels only for auxiliary help.  Does anyone else run up to 1/2 of a route (mail included) as auxiliary help?  I've been running anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of several (2-4) routes each day minus Sunday for the last 2 weeks.  I appreciate the hours and mileage just curious if regular is getting full evaluation when they finish 2 hours under everyday because I'm running 1/2 their route.  Now I'm being told to make sure everyone is back in 45 minutes before dispatch on Saturday. Not sure how I'm going to accomplish that.  Thoughts?

During OT Period, Regs get evaluated pay AND 150% for any hours over that eval. If we work under the evaluation, we are paid the eval only. Mgmt has threatened to have a sub run a portion of my route to get me back & out of OT. As long as the subs help with my 2nd trips & collections when needed... I'm happy!

It's not your job to figure out how to do that, that is your manager's. Your job is to carry what he wants you to carry and get back when you are done. Yes many routes are carrying a lot more than their evaluation says they are due to Amazon and Christmas parcels, and to only work their evaluation they might need two or three hours a day taken off their routes. That is where you come in, but not to figure out what needs to be done, but to be directed on how to do it.

Your post, once again shows manglement is deploying the "Divide And Conquer Strategy" in your office as well

You are getting paid for what you work.

Regulars have to lose some hours here or there to stay under their WEEKLY evaluation or the USPS might pay a few minutes of dreaded overtime.

What you don't see is from the second week of September to now, Many, if not Most, Regulars have been working over their evaluation, READ FOR FREE

What you don't see is many regulars get to clean up curtailed mail, mail left lay that should have been sorted on their relief day, all year long, READ FOR FREE

So in answer to your Question, the Regular does get their evaluated pay even if under by 2 or 3 hours that day, manglement is trying to keep them as close as possible to their WEEKLY EVALUATION, WEEKLY is the key, not any one day

I think everyone right now is taking pieces of routes or extra parcels from other routes. From what I'm seeing, offices are just doing whatever they can to try to get everyone back at a "reasonable" time, which from some of the posts of people not getting back until 10:00 pm, it's not working in some places. What would the solution be though, if you hire a bunch of RCA's, everyone will complain come March when no one is getting any hours and if you don't hire anyone we just don't have enough people to get the mail/parcels out. The one (and for me, only) thing great about this time of year are the paychecks, so I really wish the post office would see how hard we have worked this season and give us some kind of monetary bonus, I know it will never happen but if I got an extra $500 as a "Thank You" from the post office I would at least feel like they gave a shit about their workers.

Thanks for your thoughts.  Again grateful for the hours and mileage.   I have a friend that just went regular earlier this year and we were curious about his pay.  I see everyday what regulars do for free.  Doesn't give me much inspiration to make regular.  I just hadn't seen anyone talking about RCA's carrying actual mail on auxiliary.   I don't mind,  again love the hours, just wasn't understanding how some many were getting away with carrying just parcels.

I as an RCA have carried actual mail many times after delivering packages to help get the Regular in for dispatch. Most times we make dispatch but then there are times that even with me giving help to the Regular we are out until after dark.
