sub is bottom of the totem pole, has maybe 2 years in. But he is filling in for his reg because of medical issues. Works 3-4 days a week, calls in sick on days like today. Im the senior sub in the office, yet somehow i still get to work his crappy days. In about a year, he will be my sub, as the reg on that route is retiring. Wish i could train them like the old days..
bad sub..nothing i can do but rant about it i guess

If they habitually call in sick, they are placed on the Management Naughty list. They are then watched and if it continues it's grounds for a doctor note request by them. If it continues it's also grounds for dismissal of being unavailable.

That, in a nutshell, is the problem. Wages have been cut to the point that the good workers go elsewhere. What's the old adage? You get what you pay for. It's happening wherever the cost of living is higher.

Are you sure you and I dont work at same office and have the same sub. I took off 1 week after count he worked 2 days and called off never has worked a full week in 2 yrs. Called off in beginning of May had surgery May 28th, couldnt come back unitll middle of Sept, then gripped when I took day after Thanksgiving off has hit 2 mailboxes 1 car and Po say keep them at any cost. smh
im still an rca. so yesterday i started by delivering packages in one office. delivered almost a half route in another office 13 miles away. returned to the first office, ran 2 hours route there, and to top it off, ran out some ups packages that came in at 2 pm. i really didnt know if i was coming or going by the end of all that. to add to it, they changed a couple cbus. so the boxes werent quite where they used to be. of course i put a letter in the wrong box and got dinged for it today. it was at the end of the route and i was starting to just stare at things for a second or two before i shook my head and got focused again. plus the pm likes to play favorites, and dinged me because the sub that did the other half of a route didnt get back to help his reg until 230. the horror. now that reg is mad at me because he thinks he got shafted. good times.
