if a carrier officially retired June28..by what day should his job be posted for bidding? I know mgmnt has 10 days to decide whether or not to delay 45..how do i know if this is happening? and is it 10 business..or calendar?

I don't know where your 10 and 45 are coming from but Mgmt. has 30 days to post a vacancy. If there is a possible route consolidation or adjustments then Mgmt. may get an additional 60 days to post.

johnwayne -- "if a carrier officially retired June28..by what day should his job be posted for bidding?"

-- If the carrier is "officially" retired and not just out of the office while burning up annual and or sick leave, then manglement has 10 days to post the route. Should have been posted on Monday, the 8th. But with the 4th of July holiday, manglement may not have its act together.

-- How ever, if the route is being considered for coversion, consolidation, or adjustment, that buys manglement another 60 days. ( Article 12.3.A.2.a.)

-- Be sure to be up to speed on the electronic bidding process as there are no "do overs".

"i was told it was to be posted in 10. could be delayed 45. then delayed another 45.. "

-- In such cases, always ask for the reference.

It's 30 days. Article 12.3.A.2 ( page 60)
"When a rural route becomes vacant, it shall be posted within thirty (30) days from the time it becomes vacant, except:"

Key word in that is VACANT which can take a few weeks to accomplish as the carrier must be removed from “the rolls” for a route to be vacant. If there is any HR business to the resignation or retirement, it can take longer than 30 days.

Yes should be posted.
In my experience, it was announced at a service talk too and they use up all of the time frames.
I would check ebid every couple of days.
Bidding is posted on Saturdays & must be posted in the office. Liteblue will have it up that Saturday morning.
Some offices will not announce the postings as mgmt is not required. It is only required to be posted in office. If it’s not posted during the 10-day bid window (14 for District bids), then it can be thrown out & rebid with a Grievance or a call to your DR.

Do you have anything to cite on the Saturday postings?
We've had 6 go up in the last year. I thought 1 was posted on a Friday. The route that went district wide definitely was posted on a Thursday.
Aren't district wide posted for 15 days?
Tia

There is nothing in writing that I have found that states postings are mandatory on Saturdays. That is the day HR notes on the postings I’ve seen as the first day to bid. We have routes go to bid often here as we are a fast growing area & it’s always on Saturday for 10 days ending at midnight CT Monday.

Rarely do we see a District posting here but 15 days is correct. Sorry, My head was in a Grievance ?
