Cameras in mail trucks

I figured they would partner with FLOCK for this? o_O Given it's mounted INSIDE the vehicle you can bet it picks up stuff inside as well.

BTW, why do we keep piloting new STUPID procedures and products when we supposedly are almost out of money? A huge fraud and nepotism investigation needs to be conducted here.

They never put backup cameras in LLVs, even after all the hoopla they made about backing... Seems fishy with these cameras... they'll have some way of hassling carriers with these cameras, that's their main MO...🤷‍♂️👉☠️

The USPS once had a plan to implement self driving delivery vehicles. The plan was to start with Rural Carriers. Maybe they are planning to bring the plan to life. The plan was the Postal Vehicle drives itself and we deliver mail and hold legal responsibility for the driving.

Calling bs on that one. Self driving cars still can't even figure out properly marked nicely paved roads with certainty. There is no way they are going to navigate ever changing gravel roads, wildlife, and pull into mail boxes accurately.

They would rather see if it is snowing outside, instead of a backup camera to help make sure your do not run over someone.

I put a radio in my son's car with a nice back up camera for less than a hundred. The cost saved from one lawsuit could probably cover cameras for all the remaining llvs. But remember, this is the organization that okayed the new duck truck. Common sense is no where to be found.

They’re spending probably xx $$$$ on cameras to spy & say Ah Ha! why didn’t you stop for that spm at 101 Mulberry St when you were just a 1/2 mile away?

Interesting it doesn't say who's going to have access to this information, and whether or not it will be in real time. I doubt any of us signed up to be a rolling surveillance camera.

My biggest concern is the unintended consequence of putting carrier's safety at risk once these cameras become common knowledge. Bad guys finding out the mailman is recording them will put a target on all of us.

If the cameras are put in place do we get access? Will our union fight to get us access?
If we write up a safety issue and the camera shows it is there will this give us legal leverage to settle with the Postal Service?
