Checking receptacles for ballots

Postmaster has asked carriers* to check all mail receptacles for outgoing mail ballots including all CBU and curbside boxes (with or without flag/outgoing mail marker). How are rural carriers paid under RRECS for this?
Would additional pay (8127 time) only count on days with no Boxholders/Saturations?

*Postmaster called for an "all carriers meeting" then addressed city carriers specifically about checking all mail receptacles; therefore order may not have applied to rural carriers.

this comes up virtually every election season.

then the nrlca has to issue the same response every time...

we are not obligated to stop if the flag is not up. if you are being told to stop, notify your steward, be that your local, ADR or DR. :)

Tell them you went back out after you finished your route, and did a second trip and got all them miles/minutes to be safe. lol

I think the USPS should enforce the stopping at every box mandate for the week…

And carriers should follow the mandate…

Then the USPS can try and justify less than 100% coverage factor for that time frame.

They would say it has to be done and not give 100% to ensure proper election. Either that or they would say you didn't stop long enough to register a stop.

Back to OG question. Don't stop at every box. Biggest waste of time and brakes and more work for your transmission especially if POV.
