Count Questions.. Few

1. PM told me today that we only get 20 seconds rifling time per dps tray, its a set formula and its already on the rural count work sheet as .2 * x where x is number of trays, I thought it was supposed to be actual time? and local steward and senior regs are in agreement.

2. What is a legitimate time for looking over the edit book, I told the PM that i spend about 2 minutes a day x 10 days in order to go over my entire edit book every 2 weeks, It is supposed to be turned in every 2 weeks here.  

Was also "ordered" not to case any DPS, my route starts off on a pretty busy street so i usually case that street plus a little more to get me going safely.

As for riffling time:  I think you should take the 20 seconds and RUN.  Should be actual time, but That is generous.

I thought you said in an earlier post they denied you riffling time all together, did you turn on your charm to get them to reconsider.

The powers that be are not allowing riffling time at all  for those that case DPS this count.

This was a settled dispute, over and over again, but here we go again, one step BACKWARDS, then 3 more steps BACKWARDS.

15 seconds/tray here, too, which is fine with me. As for your edit book, it's actual time, so if things have changed since you submitted it pre-count, go for it. I'm probably going to have 2-3 min/week. Two min/day seems crazy, but if you can get away with it, godspeed.

--  Just don't let the PM see page 27 of the Mail Count Guide, where is says "actual riffling time to assess the quality of DPS mail...

--  A "riffling" formula has been previously addressed here at RI.

--  PO-603's Section 226 Delivery Point Sequence ( DPS ) Mail -- last sentence:  At your option, you may choose to case DPS mail in accordance with 15 -= Schedules.

--  Step 4's out there saying "casing DPS must be done on a case by case basis".

--  A little early to be in 2080 trouble?

She says everyone is not allowed but from asking around I am the only one that actually does case any substantial amount of dps, she said that I have had too many markups in the morning due to me going through the dps and that most of the markups should be in the afternoon. 

I am a 2 month in regular, 4 years as an rca and have always finished below evaluation, except of course during Christmas. I reiterated to her that we have gone over this before and as long as it doesn’t effect my leaving time or ending time past eval I should be able to case dps, she didn’t want to hear it.

I am a retired state employee and kinda know my way around contract language and union issues, this is to be my second retirement,  and did not stand for any crap during my rca time, will make sure she reiterates her order this morning with the steward present then grieve it.

she of course had no idea about the column 17 time for railroad crossings, total of 6 minutes in the 2 days of count so far, took a picture on Saturday and a video yesterday for proof, though of course she didn’t believe me and told me “don’t tell anyone else about that” I drive over tracks 2x a day and our steward goes over same one 4x a day.

That makes no sense whatsoever.  A markup is a markup is a markup.  Unless that moron of a PM thinks you get more time credit for a markup before noon than you do after noon.

Stuff happens out there, stuff gets upside down, backwards out of sequence, you may be a space cadet.

Ya day 1 in Boston for my rca training and I was hearing from multiple people “oh you’re going there.... sorry” I actually have a pm from a small office in the next town over counting me ( our office delivers in a a few surrounding towns, they don’t have their own delivery) he has been pretty reasonable with the parcel or flat issue no arguments, he mostly just changes the “spr” to a parcel with few exceptions, though noone will make a real decision on important things without our pm giving the ok, she was up in arms this afternoon when I came back with 4 Mis-sequenced pieces and asked if I got it loose from the clerks, of course I didn’t or I would have cased it in the right slot and delivered it. Of course I still cased my usual dps 3 rows of one case this morning. Usually ends up being a full tray worth so I just threw it in piles while I was rifling and went cased like it was loose letters in case anyone was looking, even though I shouldn’t have to hide that.
