denying sick leave request

If you are sick, it's a safety issue. Po mgmt can deny all they want to, but if you are physically unable to perform the job safely, fill out a 1767 form. File a grievance on denying sick leave as well...

tonsillitis -- "why do these stupEDvisor deny sick leave request and wanted documentation 1st.."

-- You could show manglement Article 10.3.e ( basically the same wording as the ELM's 513.361 ):

- For periods of absence of three ( 3 ) days or less, a supervisor may accept on employee's certification as a reason for an absence.

-- Unfortunately your supervisor may say "I don't accept your reason".

-- Probably the National Agreement should be updated to reflect "a supervisor may or may not accept"...

-- In the mean time, you could ask your supervisor "I'm I on the Restricted Sick Leave List?"

- If the supervisor says "yes", politely request to see his documentation! ( as it takes several months to compile! )

-- Also, manglement may request documentation to "protect the interests of the Postal Service". Ask your supervisor how denying your sick leave request is "protecting the interests of the USPS".

-- Should manglement maintain the need for "documentation" before granting a sick leave request, have your doctor write up something to give to your supervisor -- along with a bill for providing medical information to a third-party ( a favorite city carrier tactic ). And charge whatever your doctor feels sufficient for his services.

-- Remind your supervisor that if anything in the doctor's note somehow becomes know to others in the office, that is a HIPPA violation -- as in a FEDERAL OFFENSE!

-- If you happen to feel "queasy" while at work because your were denied sick leave, be sure to hang around the supervisor's desk in case something comes up!

-- Good luck.
