Direct order to work on your day off

Sorry to add a question to the original question, but if you are given a direct order, can you demand to have it in writing before doing the task that was ordered? I would want it in writing because we all know how management lies about everything. I did that once when ordered to carry part of another route (as a regular carrier). Management refused to put it in writing and I just left. No discipline ever followed.

i always ask for it in writing with management's signature "so i can attach it to my grievance".

has always shut them down. have never received discipline.

You can try but it won’t hold up if disciplined for not following orders.
It does scare some mgmt off if they don’t know any better.

Well, there could be a step 4 on this issue.
I dont know about that. I only understand the order of consideration as best I can. I gave you my perspective, and I am nobody of any inmportance. I have to say. I feel like threatening discipline is different than issuing discipline and an issue in and of itself.

Volume capture is a big deal to me and yes, it is a pia to have that added task to my day. I stress about it sometimes. I do realize there is no enforceability to a lot of Rrecs. I try to take care of the route the best I can when I am on it and just assume and accept that it goes to crap when I am not. Most carriers I know simply dont care about how or what volume is captured. Most Carriers I know have not read much about it. Most carriers just want to get home as soon as possible and that is their intent as they navigate their day. This intent might not be whats best for volume capture.
To me the threat of discipline might as well be the discipline. If you're gonna pull it you better use it sorta thing. I am not religious but my mantra is the serenity prayer.

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I just try to keep that in mind. I care enough to be here trying to improve things but i also don't want my job to define who i am as a person.

I don’t know about you all but I learned as a sub. My phone doesn’t work when I am off. It’s magical how it works out like that every week. Must be little phone gremlins 😂.

This is just my opinion. the order of consideration is what they use to fill an open schedule. If they are going through the process of trying to fill the schedule using that procedure, then the mandated part comes into play.
If the PO is calling your phone at 6am you arent obligated to answer. If you do answer, then doesn't the order of consideration get followed as it is written?
they are calling you because nobody else answered. maybe they called others and didn't answer.
this is last minute at 6 in the morning. As far as an x day go for the overtime. X day when will you be able to take it (never a good time per management) I had 12 once and supervisor said we have to pay you for those
