Scheduled to work six days. 9.2 Evaluation per day = 55.2 Evaluation per 6 days. I ran the evaluation in 39 hours exactly. When I returned to the office at 12:30pm after finishing my route after 6 days under evaluation at 39 hours, I was forced by management to work on green card and help another route out for an additional 2.83 hours. Putting me at 41.83 hours total for the week and causing me to lose my evaluation of 55.2 hours. I explained the situation to management but they forced me to go back out under direct order. I asked to be paid my evaluation of 55.2 hours and additional 1 hour straight time and 1.83 overtime hours. I was denied. The local Steward is helping file a grievance. Management asked specifically what union rule was violated and if I couldn't provide an actual code, if not they had done nothing wrong and couldn't respond to the grievance. The steward has yet to provide any code or actual wording from the contract as to what they may have done wrong. Now I am in LIMBO. Any help/Info would be greatly appreciated.

Im not sure if I can give out email. please remove if not allowed.

As to your question, not being harsh, but slow down. If no one has ever told you, when you run too fast, you hurt us all by eroding our standards.

Not to mention you screw yourself.

Good luck with your grievance...I don't think it will go anywhere, since there is no contractual violation.

Chalk it up to lesson learned. Slow down, make your overtime and go. home. :)

Pro Trolln - It seems to happen to almost every RCA. Hopefully only once. Remember this when management wants a favor. You worked 2 days for no additional pay. Probably close to $380 lost. I know I would find it hard to work for a boss that purposely screwed me out of that much money.

When it happened to me on a smaller scale, I transferred to another office.

Thanks for the replys so far. I understand the comments about lesson learned and know how to play the "game". How can this not be in violation of the contract? I ask because it would mean management can nulify almost any 5 or 6 day evaluation simply by sending you back out until your over 40. If you have a 9.6 like my last route you can even nulify evaluation after only 4 days. The only solution would be to never work evaluation and always put in as many hours as possible. But sometimes that is just as impossible when you have 9.2 evaluation and slow tue-thur. Dragging out 3 or more hours 6 days straight is not easy not sure anyone would want to either. If this is the reality I will have to except it. I will let you know how the grievance goes. Thanks again.

I know you meant well with your statments but I wanted to make it clear I did not erode any standard. I drove the speed limits, never splashed a single box, mail is stacked neat and organized to one side, i signal on ever turn, i turn off ignition, remove key and lock doors at each get out, I always gently lay packages down, this is my 6th year I work 4 different offices and there is not one single infraction on my record of any kind. It was just a good week, a light week. But I do understand your concern and where you were coming from, thanks again.

This made me laugh! But I thought about it, if I went back over the 6 years and slowed down until I actually worked the equivalent hours as eval. Hmm, I would simple have quit or never worked for postal service to begin with. Of course, I have experimented and dragged out as long as I could. I have a really high mileage route over 100 miles and rarely have two full trays of mail. I feel like I am running slow because believe me I could run much faster. Eating one eval every six years is not a bad trade off considering. But I get the consensus here. Drive your red wagon into the ground, in the sweltering heat, burning full tanks of gas, and drinking gallons of gatorade, just to make the same mealsy dime you already deserve! I got it, can I get a Blue wagon? Just humor, I really laughed and thanks again for any input.

that route gets 20 hours a week to drive 30 mph. for now.. u mentioned 2 trays, if dps and the routes average, another whopping 2.5 hours a week!, for now... am assuming a very generous pm at mail count? how are your brakes? probably new and you just did them? what about your car? just got it?
you sound like a hard working rca, the same ones who can do a tray of dps in 4 minutes, ya know the new time standard for everybody...

There is no guarantee in the contract for you to get paid your evaluation once you hit 40. I know it sucks. But that's what it is. You need to slow down and there are many ways to do so. Start by casing your DPS. Don't case anything fast. Don't rush loading. It is commendable that you deliver the way you do. Thank you. If you think you are going to get back early enough to be put on another route, take a lunch.

I was an RCA once and I know it isn't easy to drag things out sometimes. But I lost money only once. As God was my witness, I would nevah let that happen evah again. ;)

It’s not a Violation due to Article 30.2.Q which speaks to additional duties forLeave Replacements.
