Disparate treatment grievance

I am seriously considering filing a grievance for disparate treatment of RCAs in our office.  Although I really like getting the hours, I'm fed up.

We have 5 RCAs in our APO/RMPO group to cover a total of 8 routes.  We have 2 H routes, 3 J routes, and 3 K routes.  One of our RCAs is allowed to be available only on Saturday.  He's never required to cover his primary route on any other day.  He's been with us just over a year, and he's only trained on 2 of the J routes.

We aren't an Amazon hub, but we are doing Sunday delivery (Amazon and ours) for the holiday season.  Three of the RCAs are being required to work every Sunday.  The other two RCAs are not even asked.  Managements reasoning - the primary routes of the other two RCAs don't get any Sunday Amazon, and they don't know the other routes very well or at all.

In any other situation, knowing the routes or having been trained on the routes doesn't matter.  I have other commitments on Sunday that I've had to cancel because I'm required to work.

And during the No-overtime period, Saturday-only RCA isn't required to come in and help, so the rest of us cover everything - coming in around 10, take 2 hours of this route, 2 hours of that route, 2 hours of the other route, and run these parcels - and BE BACK by 5.

--  You might have some success on filing for the Saturday only available RCA.

--  Unfortunately the 2013 USPS letter on Sunday Package Delivery Work List -- Rural Carriers contains the following:

There is no obligation to office Sunday delivery work on a rotating basis to the leave replacements on the list. ( for hubs )  But manglement probably ignoring that in your case.

--  Another unfortunate "given" -- manglement does not care about your life outside of the post office.

I think disparate treatment is just a fact of PO life... <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

Every day that I'm off now during the NO OT period, my sub gets some sort of help on the route... when I work, I get NO help... disparate treatment???  <img title="Surprised" alt="Surprised" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-surprised.gif" />

In fact, I've even been asked to take out parcels the next day that the subs didn't get delivered the previous day... I guess it's okay for me to make multiple trips, but not the subs... disparate treatment???  <img title="Surprised" alt="Surprised" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-surprised.gif" />

I'm thinking it's just a conspiracy to kill off us Table One carriers so they can roll in the cheap labor...  <img title="Cry" alt="Cry" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-cry.gif" />

Smile and file. Get paid for those parcels that were not delivered. We are entitled to a full day of relief.
