I don't even get the scans for most China packets... I actually don't think I'm getting any credit for them, as they're tossed in a tub in the parcel buggy with no sticker or post-it note on it... <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />
Rather than battling all the way thru count, I'm thinking of just keeping notes to try to get it thrown out at the end of the count... don't know if it'll work or not, but after having to get into arguments over stuff that was CLEARLY spelled out in black and white, I'm just already tired of the whole mess... <img title="Frown" alt="Frown" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-frown.gif" />

Unfortunately it's a 2" slot that it must fit, not 1". This is why we are allowed 2" per 2 addresses on our case. Now if it didn't fit with all the mail for that address in a 2" space, OT would be a parcel.

China pkgs ... some qualify as flats & some as letters. The scans, although they might state "not required to scan", can be counted as a scan if mgmt requires ALL pkgs to be scanned regardless of shippers wording. Our office is getting ALL of those tiny scans even if they bear only numbers with a scan bar. If they scan with the question of Int'l? then answer yes & choose where it is left. They no longer require signatures & haven't for quite a while.
Also added to non-signature scans is a scan of the 3849 when leaving notice for whatever reason (not when delivered). When you bring back the article, writing Left Notice with the date is your proof that you scanned the 3849. It was agreed upon back in 2016 but I don't recall ever being told of such for that count.

Not necessarily. The rigid article also has to be 80% or more of the flex piece. There is a flowchart on Rigid Article Inside a Flexible Mail Piece.

At our union mail count school. Pill bottle package samples were parcels. Also getting credit that way here.

also the 80 20 rule was for cd's in magazines or letters, you guys are saying that they are using that for regular parcels?
Morty et al -- The dreaded pill bottles! One would think this should be a non-issue after all these years!!
-- Just like catalogs - if they fit in ANY open 2 inch slot, the catalog is a flat.

Scan EVERYTHING and use your scanner total at end of day! We were told we HAD to scan the little china packets EVEN IF THEY SAID NOT TRACKED RIGHT ON THEM!! That directive came from our district!

Scan EVERYTHING and use your scanner total at end of day! We were told we HAD to scan the little china packets EVEN IF THEY SAID NOT TRACKED RIGHT ON THEM!! That directive came from our district!

To Post #5 ....gotstamps.....Last week a customer came into the Post Office and said "where is my parcel, have been tracking it. It was a China packet that said clearly "delivery scan NOT REQUIRED" so the clerk and the PM got together and decided if a customer can track the packet...it needs a scan. Finally, some common sense. If it can be tracked....customer service should prevail.

It's done so differently in EVERY location, how can it be fair???

AND we were told the 80% rule when a pill bottle is in an envelope. My counter is an old retired rural carrier who keeps resorting back to way old parcel rules. I didn't correct him since I was only "Observing". ?
