cant seem to find, more likely i ddnt look better. when can we use "other" on edit book. whats the proper way of using it. and why does it need district approval before they want it implemented on edit book.

That’s for dismount deliveries like inside a business or for a hardship mailbox at the door.
As @gotstamps posted, the "other" delivery type is for instances where delivery is NOT curb or CBU / Central.

why does it have to be approved by the district? when i added that to my edit book.
its the same thing as putting last name on addresses they dont do it no more. they told me i have to sit down on a computer and added it in the office myself.

District probably wants a paper trail since "other" changes the delivery setup, while names are mostly just label data. Edit book stuff loves turning tiny fixes into an office computer ritual.

Marking “Other” changes the delivery to an Authorized Dismount adding time & distance to that address everyday. Rural routes are typically mounted or CBU and rarely have “Other”.
Once it’s changed in the Edit Book then it will be changed in the Mapping by adding the new delivery points, parking points, and Dismount Distance.

i have a couple business that i have to go in to hand deliver the mail. dont know why but been that way since i got the route.
i have 14.
lot of elderly by themselves customers on my route.
3 are actual dismounts. the other 11 are in the yard close to porch.

now if their mailbox is in their drive way that i have to do 3point turn in their driveway does that count as "other" also?i have 14.

drive inside driveway, do 3point turn, service box and exit driveway.
is other extra time compare to curb?
if it's a hardship, it is coded as "other".
if you have to get out to service, make sure that the distance is measured with a wheel and that you add it during your mapping.
the extra "mileage" will be added onto the route, regardless if you exit the vehicle or not.

thanks will update that on my hardships. i have 800ish boxes w/ cbus and around 35miles route shud help me out with that "other" i hope on nxt mms. still hoping im going up after this count after being frozen for a year

If you are not dismounting then no. That would be a Curb regardless of where you drive to reach the box. Other gives a Dismount credit so if you aren’t required to dismount then you do not use Other.

Not coded as Other unless you have to dismount to service the box/location. Other credits a Dismount so that would be incorrect.
A mounted mailbox is Curb if not required to get out of the vehicle.

you won't know until you try.
put O in your edit book.
when you map, go to the dismounts page. that address (or those, if multiple) should show up. make sure that zero (0) is in the distance area.
to my way of thinking (and apparently, the ams in our area's), this makes sense. it shows that it is a hardship box, but does not have a dismount.
you should still get the extra driving footage. in most cases, it isn't much. but for one of my boxes, it is .10 mile up to the house. round trip .20. times 6 days = 1.2 miles
