Eligible for another ptf position?

Hello, i am new to this forum. I have been an RCA for almost 6 months (past my 90 days already).

I work in an office with 5 K routes. There is one rural ptf already there with i think 3 of the K routes on his string, and me as the sub on the senior carriers Saturday day off. There has been no other success in hiring any other subs since i started.

Is it possible to get manglement to create another ptf position since we are so short on subs? Or would they just add another route or 2 to the existing ptfs string?

There is a lot that would depend on. Hopefully a Regular carrier has submitted a 120-day letter for a sub. Once that 120 is up, they can file a grievance that could force it.
Of course mgmt could create the position (with District approval) on their own but there have to be 2 Unassigned sub positions which it sounds as if you do not have if the PTF has 3 on their string & you have your primary. Mgmt can take 1 away from the PTF if they choose or they can add 1. PTF strings can have 2-5 K-routes assigned.
If it’s only you & the PTF, the most they will have is 4 since you must be assigned to a primary.

I will have to ask the ptf exactly if he has 2 or 3 on his string. He works 6 days a week typically so im not sure exactly what his string consists of. Lets say he only has 2 routes on his string. Instead of adding another ptf position couldn't manglement just add all 4 routes that dont have a sub to his string?
Would there be anything stopping them from doing this? Since I'm sure they wouldn't create another career position unless absolutely necessary.

Mgmt can add or remove routes from a PTF string as they see fit.
