We have a question about seniority between RCAs & TRCs who became RCAs. Can anyone tell me the approximate date that TRCs were converted to RCAs? Thanks!

kgauger -- "We have a question about seniority between RCA's & TRC's who became RCA's. Can anyone tell me the approximate date that TRCs were converted to RCA's?"

-- Looking through the 18-page Temporary Relief Carrier ( TRC ) Implementation Instruction and Selection Procedures, don't see any mention of converting TRC's to RCA's.

-- That being said, Arbitrator Clarke, in his 2010-2015 "award", did direct the USPS to stop hiring TRC's ( Designation Code 70 ) as of 11 AUG 2012.

-- Existing TRC's were will be allowed to complete their appointments. ( 359 days ) Again, no mention of converting TRC's to RCA's.

-- So if someone hired on with the USPS on 10 AUG 2012, that appointment would have been up around 4 AUG 2013, bringing an end to the TRC category as a USPS employee.

-- I suppose TRC's could have seen the proverbial writings on the wall and have taken the RCA exam to become an RCA before Arbitrator Clarke ended the position. No idea if a TRC would have had to resign to do so. Anyone go back that far??

Me again! Guilty, I go back that far!? All the TRCs in our office converted to RCA by taking the test, although one had to take it 4 times. (Some people just don't test well, was a fantastic carrier.)

Yeah I don’t believe TRCs where coverted. I was a TRC hired as an RCA before that contract was settled. From all the language I’ve seen they served their term and either hired as an RCA or let go of the post office.

I was a PMR/TRC, but took the test for RCA when there was an opening. Had to have a break in service when converting to RCA and resigned PMR shortly thereafter. Good thing too because dual appointments were done away with.

p.s. bt gave the answer - aug 2012. the rest of us are just blabbing. ?

trc until 8/12/12; no rca conversions happening in my area for a long time prior; then, congratulations, you're an RCA--for less money than the other one in the case next to you.

Many yrs ago, I was hired as a TRC. Took test same day and location as another TRC in office. My score was higher. We have the same enter on date for RCA. We had no break in service. For years after this, I was listed as having seniority over her.
When the day came to go regular, all of a sudden my seniority was removed and she got the route. My score no longer mattered, according to the Union. She had longer time in as a TRC, (1 1/2 yrs to my 9 months of TRC) and they decided it now was worth something.
There was nothing I could do about it.
Maybe this will help you out with the seniority part of the question.
