Employment Question

I just received my conditional job offer.  I've submitted my background report.  Will an assault from 3 years ago keep me from getting a mail carrier position?  Thanks in advance!

I recall they were pretty finicky when I applied... and I've heard of them not hiring people because of driving infractions on their records, because of the driving requirements of the job... and if you had been fired from another job, that was also a problem.  Not really sure about charges like assault tho???  I'm thinking it could be a problem, but they'll let you know if it is.  Was this something you had let them know about earlier, or is the background check the 1st time it came up??? <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

I'm guessing it depends on if you were convicted or acquitted.  I'm guessing if you were convicted of assault you may not get hired with the whole "going postal" thing  being a probability, and a liability.   It also depends on if the assault was a felony.  You won't get hired with a felony on your record. That said, once hired you can wear an ankle bracelet for Violation of a Protection Order/Domestic Violence while delivering mail. Seen it....
