Equipment/layout changes after count

 Long story short - our office has changed quite a bit these past 2 weeks. Wings have been removed, carts taken away, and equipment cleared so that the work room is more open. It stinks, but it's made the mornings a lot smoother and most importantly safer. That said, it's resulted in a couple carriers having a longer morning in the office. The case wings were removed yesterday - both routes went down during mail count. Now I could almost see the time difference (wings vs no wings) being a wash because in a few weeks the carriers will be back up to speed at casing. Management removing our carts though has resulted in longer loading times. Everyday this week I've had to load the cart twice due to heavy loads. The other carriers are doing the same thing, multiple trips because the hamper or cart is too small (management took our big carts, thus leaving the small ones). 

I have no problem deleting this if I'm just making a fuss. Just doesn't seem right that these changes occur after mail count.

Regarding your post, it does seem bogus to me that they're taking away your larger carts and increasing your load times by doing so...  <img title="Frown" alt="Frown" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-frown.gif" />

-- It is manglement's office and they know best ( yeah, right! )

--   Apparently they believe volume is not coming back.

--  At my last office, it was an understanding that new labels were done on the USPS's dime and time -- IF manglement required it.

--  Once those wings hit the back dock, they will be gone for good -- so manglement better be right.

--  Should manglement start to complain that carriers are not getting back in time for dispatch, etc, you can mention the extra trips necessary to load because of the small carts.  ( what is you definition of "big carts"?   bungie cord and canvas or plastic orange + black "pumpkins" )

--  Anyone brave enough to ask for 8127 or 1314-A time for the new "tasking" of loading with small carts?

I'd be all over the 8127 for extra load time. You also have time to have your count load time adjusted. I would grieve it now, is mngt tampering with the integrity of mail count by falsifying load times.

Are these the carts that are knee high? I'd fill a 7167 safety sheet. Too much leaning, leaning to push, more loading.

An alarming thing you stated, is that it sounds like those routes were already cut? That's a blatant contract violation.

Today I get in and our DPS is now stacked on an APC. There's two carriers that case it so they had to take time to carry the trays of mail back to their area. They were full today so they had to take one at a time. I'm about 30' away from the APC. Ya can't tell me that's not adding time. 

I'm going to bring up the 8127 tomorrow. This is crap!

Ask for every second that has been added since count. BTW, clerk's are required to open the APC's. If they make you open them, get time for that, too! Best wat to get mgmt to respect you is don't be a door mat.

The time for office changes was at the pre-count conference before count. After count everything must remain the same until the next count because you are being paid for working according to those criteria used during count. If your manager has changed anything, file a grievance asking him to cease and desist from any changes that add to the time you took during count for any of the tasks that you do in the office. The cart situation must remain the same unless it can be proven that the former situation was a safety hazard. The DPS placement must remain the same and any casing equipment must remain unless route cuts are being made and some routes will be losing some casing equipment due to a large loss of boxes. Those cuts will be made after April 28, if there are any being made before that, then those routes that gained should be already being paid for their increases, which they aren't. In short, your Pm seems to be quite a dipstick if he has been doing the things you have mentioned above, and should be stopped with a grievance. Call your steward or District rep. and get some help if you don't feel comfortable grieving these things yourself.

Sounds like a class action grievance is in order if mgmt isn't adding time to your evaluations for these new duties and footages.
