I was wondering if anyone knew about the rules for this. I been working at another office after I finish my aux route. I was wondering if i could get paid travel time for going to that office.

I plan to ask soon but was just wondering if anyone knew about this.

I have worked other offices before and they paid for my travel.

--  If you have finished your AUX and there is no other work for you in your office, must be there are a lot of RCA's.

--  Used to be another "gray area".   Supposedly if an RCA was ordered to work at another office, the RCA would be paid mileage to do so.

--  However - comma -- if the RCA was doing it on his/her own, as in farming oneself out for the day, no mileage payment.

--  Don't have anything in print, one way or the other.  Anyone???

--  If you can get the other office to pay your mileage, go for it!!

The way I understand it, that's an unwritten rule. Fact is, you should get paid any time you travel to another office, further than you travel to your own office, you should get paid the difference in mileage. For example, if your office is 3 miles from home, and the other office is 7 miles from home, you should get 4 miles of etravel pay. If you're traveling from your office to another office to assist, you should get time and mileage ie your green card time and mileage should start the moment that you sign out of your office. No clue where it's written though, and I don't really have the time to dig.

--  Get in touch with your Assistant District Representative, if you don't have an office steward.

--  Places to look until then:

--  ELM's Chapter 4, Section 438  Pay During Travel or Training.  Subsections 438.122 -- Commuting to a Different Worksite.  438.123 -- Commuting With a Break in Duty Status.  Section 438.13 -- Types of Compensable Travel Time.  Subsection 438.132 --  Travel From Job Site to Job Site.

--  Handbook 15 ( Travel and Relocation ), Chapter 5, 5-5.2  Allowable Expenses When Using Your POV

--  Google "postal clerk info mileage".   Page 2.  Q.  Do I get mileage if I volunteer to go to another office?  A.  Yes.   If you use your personal vehicle for USPS business purposes you can claim mileage, regardless of whether you volunteered or were "forced" to travel.  ( Probably nothing you can cite in your case as it involves clerks.   Just another example of how other unions take better care of their members.  )

--  Good luck.

If you volunteer to service this other office then NO. If forced YES.

Going through this with an incomplete APO/RMPO matrix. Office hustling other AUX'S from other offices. If they opt to no EMA and time travel is paid.

Volunteer or not travel mileage is paid in accordance with f-15 chapter 7

1164 is the form.

If you push getting mileage they may not ask for you to return.

I'll ask next time. I been going for about two months almost 6 days a week so it would add up to a nice amount. It is only about 4 mile difference from my office so not much but does add up over time. This office is very large one with lack of help and help that is mostly terrible, no work ethic and/or lots of call outs. I'm sure they would pay as it seems like no rules apply to this office literally. I'll let you know what I hear.

also my postmaster who is very knowledgeable said ask and get it if they will pay it. So he is the type that would tell me I couldn't get it for whatever reason and didn't.
