Hi there, my route got counted and management gave me a copy of the 4241M form and I think they made a mistake on the centralized boxes and NDCBU/collection compartment. They both have 48 in it. And I know that I have 48 CBUs in my route but in centralized boxes, is that the total deliveries from each CBU?

Collection compartments are your Outmail slots.
CBUs that have the short & wide mailboxes have 1 collection compartment in each one. That is the box that you open to access the mail delivery boxes. The old square boxes can either have 1 outmail slot or none in each unit Since you access from the back.

True...furthermore the reason we have 2 different pay standards for these 2 different style cbus, is bc it takes the carrier more time to retrieve outgoing mail from each compartment v. retrieving outgoing mail from the one outgoing mail slot. This is also why, during a mail count, the carrier rubber bands the outgoing mail from the single outgoing slot & gets credit for ONE piece v. Single piece credit if the carrier has to pull outgoing mail from multiple boxes in the unit.
This used to be important, but sadly, with the decline of first class letters,imho..it's becoming obsolete and moot

There is no different pay credit for outmail slots whether it be the old square CBUs or the newer type with the wide-short boxes. The collection compartment credit is the same & so is the credit for each delivery mailbox in each CBU.
I only mentioned the different types because it is not unusual to only have 1 outmail slot at a stop with the old square CBUs. The newer types do not have the capability of converting an outmail to a usable mailbox therefore there is always 1 outmail per 1 CBU for those stops.
There is not supposed to be any separation of outmail for CBUs as they are already credited. Only curbside outgoing is piece-counted BUT if a customer does place outgoing in their CBU mailbox, we do get piece for that. Customers are supposed to use the designated outmail slot, though. We are not required to check CBU mailboxes for outgoing mail.
