formula office question

i tried to search this, didnt find the answer. so here goes. if an office has 3 reg routes, 1 aux route, and 3 rcas, will there be two saturday k days? one rca on aux route. one saturday k day for senior carrier, one saturday k day for 2nd senior carrier, and one other k day chosen at the junior carriers discretion?

You can find the formula by going to the top of this page and clicking on knowledgebase then search "formula implementation" I just calculated it quickly and it looks like 2 Saturday K days to me.

With 3 regular routes an Aux. and 3 RCA's why is your office going formula???

And did Mgmt. do everything they needed to do prior to going formula?

I feel like I'm being lied to. I'll expand later
Oh, their lips were moving.
That's how I can tell when my Abrasive PM is lying. That, and the phrase, "I checked with the union."

The Calculator comes out with an answer of 2 as in the maximum # is 2 Non-Saturday Relief Days. This Is NOT to say that mgmt cannot give 2or 3 peeps a Saturday Relief Day but they MUST have no more than 2 Weekday Reliefs.

pm tried a bait and switch on me. Told me we were going formula. a carrier junior to me(pm favorite btw) wanted to alternate saturdays with me. told them maybe. pm took that as a yes, decided it was to begin this week. I said..wait..we arent formula yet. I MIGHT do it when we go formula. they had told me that i was going to have to work every saturday otherwise. but im 2nd in seniority, and i have an rca appointed to my route. junior carrier has no rca. Once i got to thinking about the deal..it made absolutely no sense for me to say yes. now both pm and junior carrier are not happy with me..

Having an RCA assigned has no bearing to a Carrier’s Relief Day nor whether they will be off or not.
There is also no such thing as “Alternating Saturdays” unless both routes are J-routes. There is the possibility that if 2 routes have Friday Relief Days, they both can CHOOSE to be “Friday rotation” routes. The 2 would alternate having Friday & Saturdays off creating a 3-day weekend for both of them.

Thanks gotstamps, I had to go and reread the whole thing to see where I went wrong.

but this would be dependent on if the office actually goes to formula. it is not yet, and has not been notified as such. and im not sure im not going to get a saturday k day. so why take the deal? I have my saturday k day now. and will keep it as long as i can. I dont see what i would get out of the deal.

You are correct. There are “hoops” mgmt must jump through in order to change an office to Formula. If you don’t believe they have done enough to hire subs, file a grievance as soon as mgmt implements it. Speak to your Union Rep so they may look into whether what your mgmt says is true.

Are you a K route? If you are a J, then managment has the right to determine which Saturday is assigned to the route. That way one sub can fill in on 2 J routes if need be.

As Gotstamps mentioned, there are hoops to jump through. I have had success convincing Mgmt. to postpone formula implementation. Grievance would be next.
Options, you can pick your K day ( before Formula implemented) or if implemented PM could pick your K day. Sometimes the PM will still work with you on selecting the K day.
I'm with you though. I would stand my ground.
First, is Order of Consideration being followed?
Anyone on the RDWL?
If reading your initial post correctly, the office is short 1 route every Saturday?
If nobody is on the RDWL, the junior carrier could be forced to work every Saturday. Not you.

Haha. Pm working with me. That's funny. As far as I know no one is on rdwl. But I don't know for sure. Route is 43k. I put in 15 years working Saturdays. Barely got one not working. I'm not giving up easy.

oh this is messed up. pm just told me we are going formula. and the formula gives ZERO saturday k days...
He probably miss read it. Zero non Saturdays! And they use an excel spreadsheet that some genius created. Except it doesn't allow at least one Saturday relief no matter what. I know from personal experience. And it's frustrating to have to grieve a manager and poom and rural ops who don't know how to do basic math or know how to follow instruction.
aux route does not figure for formula, @johnwayne .

get your DR in the loop.
I recently called my DR and ADR to get unformulated. I thought I had a full compliment, but according to them the 6 day aux rca needs an rca.
