office is not going formula..yet. But some new sort of hiring process..in which no interviews are conducted, and the applicant with the highest score on the test is automatically hired..is in play. but we have not hired anyone yet, even with the relaxed guidelines. Pm informed me that, in a formula office, the regs can not take a monday or a friday as a regular day off. this cant be true can it? 3 full time routes and one aux route in office. So senior carrier would take saturday, and this means I would have to take a tues wed or thurs as a scheduled day off? doesnt seem right..

Were the PM's lips moving when they told you that?

johnwayne et al -- "Pm informed me that, in a formula office, the regs can not take a monday or a friday as a regular day off. this cant be true can it?"

-- Politely or otherwise ask the PM for the reference that regulars can not take a Monday or a Friday as a relief day in a formula office. Any reference for a non-formula office?

-- Article 9.2.C.5.d.(1) -- Any regular rural carrier assigned to a K route with a Saturday relief day MAY elect to PERMANENTLY change the relief day to another day ( including Friday/Saturday rotating), providing the new relief day will assist in reaching the number of routes with a relief day other than Saturday. [ note: no mention of EXCLUDING Monday or Friday ]

-- Voluntarily selecting TUES - WED- or THUR has an incentive that allows growth to 53 to 55 standard hours.

( 2 ) -- If the required number of K routes with a relief day other than Saturday has not been reached, the Employer may assign a relief day other than a Saturday to those K routes with a Saturday relief day, based on juniority in the office. [ again Mondays and Fridays not excluded ]

-- All of which begs the question: If the office is NOT going Formula, why did the PM mention parameters that apply to a Formula Office?

-- As well as how many subs in the office and how many K routes with out a sub have put in the 120-Day notice to get one?

Where did you hear this? They do realize good test takers do not necessarily make good workers? Honestly as few people there are willing to take the job... they don’t need interviews or tests... just accept the one who’s willing to work..... lol

In a Formula office, mgmt can determine what days will be available for Relief... to a point. No weekday can have more Relief Days than Saturday. So if only 1 Carrier can have Saturday, then only 1 can have ANY of the other days as a Relief Day. The Aux route removes 1 sub from the equation so if there are 2 subs in your office, only 1 counts for the Saturday.

The reason your PM is saying no to Monday & Friday is District. District is trying to control Holiday Mondays & Overtime. Monday Relief gets the Saturday off OR is forced to work for extra pay. Friday peeps tend to request or call-in for Saturday off which creates more Overtime paid out.

the Pm told me she was part of a pilot program. I got it directly from her. So your guess is as good as mine if she knows what she is talking about.

This is exactly how I was hired fifteen years ago. I never interviewed. I took the test, and then got called back for drug test, finger printing, etc. I was part of this massive hiring event they held in the district back then. I was kind of stunned that the process went so quickly--I'd been told I'd wait for months after taking the test, and I think I heard back the next week.

And a score on a test is as good a way of hiring as any other. 9/10 supervisors are idiots and shouldn't be making hiring decisions.

If ur Post Master can't cover 3 routes.... Something is BAD wrong with him! Lol!

I'd be ashamed if I were a post Master and tried to put 3 people on a dang formula! What's wrong with her? All she has to do is hire 1 person to fix her problem!
