A little off topic. But on. A carrier in our office was scheduled to retire at the end of September.
Well, he and I both asked off for the week of Labor Day. He was denied.
We had a Service Talk the week before Labor Day. It was announced he retired immediately. Classic.

Not at all. I had thought back when that terminal leave was automatic approval. Should be and you can bet management takes care of their own on this.

BTW, I was a badge dropping immediate retiree. Called HR same morning to send the packet. Have you had the leave conversation with management yet about approving or are you basing all this on how you think management will respond to the leave request?

I don't know when you get it when you resign, but I got my terminal pay with my final paycheck when I retired. I was totally shocked that it came so quick!

I was eligible to retire August 1st. My book has been started but not sent in yet. I have enough leave until the end of the year, but I want to leave NOW. How can I retire without being awol, and having a manager that disapproves ALL leave slips?

I was lucky enough to have a good friend who was a doctor. He wrote me up a full diagnosis and put me off indefinitely. I was able to burn all my sick leave and ride off into the sunset. If you have been there long enough to retire then im sure you have plenty of physical problems. This job will destroy your body, so maybe you might want to talk to your doctor and try that route.

I had twice the AL compared to SL when I left so only had to eat a little at the end. Many have 100++ and yours is the way to ride off after a long beat down.
