Make sure to fill out the paperwork for the right hand drive incentive. MOU #8. An imported rhd vehicle that hasn't been titled yet in the USA will qualify for the $3000.

Importeds are typically over 5 years old which does not qualify for the $3000 incentive. Used RHDs that are older than 5 years & have not been previously paid the incentive could receive the $1500 instead.

I understand the 5 year rule, but if you buy an imported car that has never been titled in the USA from a dealership, it's considered new. I received this incentive myself. I guess not all management/districts will see it this way, but it worked for me.

Have you had much luck with imports? I've been running a Wrangler the last year and a half and was considering an import for a backup as those conversions sketch me the heck out. My big concern is all that old rubber, but I'm really tempted to leap for an old, low mileage crv in original rhd

I bought it as a backup to my Jeep Wrangler. I have had way fewer problems with my import than my jeep. I have noticed some of the rubber breaking down around the driver door and rear hatch. I had to replace a hose under the hood. I didn't want to do a conversion kit either because I felt like you lose too much space. I feel like with any vehicle you buy for rural delivery that it's a roll of the dice, considering the way we drive. I took a chance and so far it's working out good.
