High or Low Option

Finally Regular

Well-known member
Regular Carrier didn’t sign high or low option after count because she didn’t come the last day nor for 2 weeks after so ‘management gave low but carriers want high option is there a way to do this since our routes can change from month to month. The option is not currently available at the end of LTM like it used to to be not sure if she will have to wait till towards end of month or what

First of all imo anybody that doesn’t know that the deadline is the following Friday after end of mms to review your mms data & sign the high option deserves whatever they get. But I guess they could file a dispute and beg that they weren’t there and given the paperwork to elect.

Actually, there are multiple opportunities to choose High Option. MMS, prior to the beginning of the new Guarantee Year, and when there is an adjustment or evaluation change (Grow As You Go).
October 3 was the start of the new Guarantee Year so that was the most recent deadline.
For Grow As You Go, if there is an evaluation change after mapping then the High/Low Option is shown (so I am told).

Only a dipstick would not elect the high option by 09/11/2026 and then on 10/03/2026 approach management and say oh you know what I wanna do….

If a route is up for bid during the MMS, that winning bidder cannot sign High/Low for that bid-route nor would they know what the evaluation will be until after the bid closes & after the MMS deadline.
This would be why a carrier would sign a 4015 between MMS & Guarantee Year begin. Also, Oct 3 would have been too late as it had to be prior to Oct 3 for 2026 since that is the date of the Guarantee Year begin.

In my office management marked them all high option ---- because you can change to low afterward.
it made sense to do it this way.
Mgmt could get into trouble if the route was pushed through as High without Carrier consent. That’s falsifying documents. That box on the 4241 is the same as a PS-4015 Form & it not only represents a choice of Route Category but also that upon taking High Option the Carrier will take enough Annual Leave to stay under 2080 hours.

Carriers here that change to Low upon finding themselves on an H-route have had to work the first Pay Period as High before the change to Low can be implemented. This is okay for a Carrier that signs off on High in the beginning but would not be fair to one that did not choose it since it forces them to work what should be their Relief Day. A grievance could be filed for proper compensation.

With several chances for carriers to declare high option, it's sad that this opportunity is still missed. In our offices, other carriers talk about this, so there's an ultra low chance it's not a topic. Only someone on extended leave might miss the buzz. Carriers must take some responsibility for their own destiny when it's offered.

Management chose low option for carrier but carrier wants high option how can this be change since it’s after the Gurantee period start dat
Low option isn't decided by management, it's the default for everyone unless you submit as high option and are eligible.

I don't believe you can shift to high from low, only from low to high.
