Hiring Timeline Question

Hello, I am new to this site and am in the process of getting my first USPS job as an RCA. I have been patiently going through the process but recently have not heard anything from the post office that I am applying to. I was on the "pre-hire list" before my interview on December 4th. I went to the interview (which went very well) and was subsequently put on the "hiring list". However, I haven't received any emails for a drug test/background check/official offer etc. since then and am wondering what is taking so long. Any help would be appreciated. I will attach my timeline if it helps.
Nov 7 - took online test
Nov 9 - took 473e (got an 85.1)
Nov 21 - Motor Vehicle Record Search
Nov 30 - received email for interview
Dec 4 - interview

Being we just finished up with the busiest time of the entire year, I'd guess they got sidetracked and forgot. I'd give them a call and inquire on how it's going and give them a little nudge.

At some point they do some sort of background check, and that can cause a short delay while that is happening... so, that's a possibility also...

R.S. -- "Dec 4 - interview "

-- Did the interviewer give you any indication you were what they were looking for and would get back to you?

-- As noted, the past few weeks have been hectic, to say the least, for the post office. Give the office a call or even better, stop by in person.

As you likely know, Christmas at the PO is sheer chaos. Amazon has upended life. Not surprising there's been a delay. Had your "fill the cup" test, too?

BTW, if hired, thank Heavens daily that it happened after Christmas. Good luck.

Not only is Christmas a hectic period, this year had the added Federal day off for George H.W. Bush the day after your interview.
What I remember about my hiring was the initial posting in February, the final hire date was in June. Every step of the way was a hurry-up-and-wait.

Considering the time of year, I don't think your timeline is a problem. Do the call to check up, but it's maybe you won't hear anything until things settle down after the holidays.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I was thinking that the delay probably had to do with the big Christmas rush. My plan now is to contact them this Friday the 4th, which would mark one month since the interview, so we'll see how that goes :)

Just saying, I believe when we were last working without a contract there seemed to be some SEVERE FOOT DRAGGING in the hiring process.
I think it was taking 6 months or more to bring RCA's on board... Anyone else remember experiencing similar delays?

Waaay back when I was hired I took the test in March of that year and went through everything else except they never did schedule my training until September before I was hired.

We must have been hired at about the same time thats how long it had taken me from testing to start day!

Expect February 29th, call to say hired, take drug test.

March 31st, call to come in and shadow

April 5th, call to set up RCA academy

May 24th, Academy

June 1st, start.

Get a factory job while you wait. You may decide you like it better than endentured servitude?
