may be silly, but had a question- I have a hold that was on hold before mailcount- 6 parcels with 1 hold bundle. Would I get 7 parcels for that and timed to retrieve them? Thanks!

Every time you handle a hold, you get credited for it. If it was during count or before, because you handled or moved the parcels you get them twice.

Regardless of when a hold starts or ends, when you deliver the hold, credit is given as a parcel when over 7 pieces and a parcel & scan for the parcels. A vacation hold should be treated the same as a "Business Closed". This could be used to gain credit:
" • Credit is given in Column 6 where a second delivery attempt is required only in accord- ance with the Postal Service's parcel rede- livery regulations. Ref: PO-603 section 332.11"
since we are required to deliver the mail per the customer request when they want it, then doesn't it seem reasonable that carrying the mail out & trying to deliver would qualify as a 2nd attempt???
