What happens if you are scheduled to help at another post office, but then are needed at your home office? Is there a set policy? or does it just depend on your PM?
Nice try.Yes. Your home office takes precedence. The other office is sol.
Been 15yrs but I used to work two other offices besides my home office, my PM would call me every time she thought I was working somewhere else. I pretty much had a regular day going at one place. I have been almost to work at the other places sometimes when she would call so I would ignore it cuz it was so late, I'd get to the other office and she had already called and told them to send me her way.Nice try.
Once scheduled at another office you're not considered available.
]I beg to differ. As an rca, I always got pulled back to my home office, even when scheduled in another townNice try.

No, I've never seen it done this way. PM's in general would not want to deny someone the use of their own employee. This would only prompt supervisors to never allow you to be scheduled somewhere else. I could see a manager trying to deny the regular an annual leave day but if that RCA is truly needed in their home office that is where they'll be.Nice try.

Thank you for looking that up.-- That is an interesting situation, which the NRLCA most likely never considered.
-- So far the best I can find is from the Special Contract Edition 2019, page 11: Note: Management may not schedule a relief carrier to work in another office it that relief carrier is contractually entitled to work in their assigned office on that day.
btdtret, your database is better than mine.2goatspastnormal et al -- "What happens if you are scheduled to help at another post office, but then are needed at your home office? Is there a set policy? or does it just depend on your PM? "

- "Deer smearer" -- "Once scheduled at another office you're not considered available."
-- Gentlemen or anyone else -- do you have a reference you can share?
I've found that one. The one I'm still looking for is as I mentioned earlier.H95R-4H-C 02094291
Pre arb for douglasville, ga says it is nice to consult with regular and promotes a better office environment but not required before scheduling assigned relief elsewhere.
But I think we're discussing two different things. The above concerns scheduling within the home office. RCA's don't "belong" to the route so although their main responsibility may lie with the primary route if they are needed somewhere else in the office the regular may just be out of luck. But the RCA DOES belong to the office. If another office needs help PM's are certainly willing to work with each other to help someone else out but as soon as a PM tries to screw another Post Office that will bring an end to that. I don't think you'll find anything in the contract etc...H95R-4H-C 02094291

This addresses scheduled leave but still doesn't really answer the question if an RCA can be called back to cover a sick call!
True. But when there is a good sub assisting at a friendly appreciative office, and their designated office is overrun with idiots, fur flies.Once scheduled, as in accepted the assignment, the carrier is no longer available. But what PM is going to want to burn bridges and make enemies of the person who "helped" him out by making or allowing the loan? That's why they won't fight them being yanked back "home" at the last minute. Not right, but it's "the way they do it". To live and let live, keeping a network of favors they can collect on when the time comes...instead of flying solo in turbulent air.
