I was just curious if anyone has the answer. I am a 74 I signed up on the volunteer list for Sundays...I was the only rca in my office when i signed the sheet. We have now hired a new rca. Is there a way to get off the list?

-- Judging from Step 4 ( S-106 ) aka the Sunday/Holiday Parcel Delivery Work List MOU, there is no provision to request to be removed from that list - like requesting to be removed from the RDWL.

-- However, comma, from the Step 4: in part -- Future lists WILL BE established during the same time periods as the relief day work list ( Article 8.5.A ) and each new list SHALL SUPERSEDE the previous list.

-- When the sign up sheets for the RDWL and Sunday Parcel Lists goes up three weeks prior to the start of the 2020 Guarantee Year ( in OCT ), don't sign up.

-- In the mean time, rely on Step 4's provision of:

Rural carrier associates serving vacant regular routes or serving regular routes during the extended absence of the regular carriers, including the first ninety ( 90 ) days before becoming a Designation 74-0, WILL NOT BE SCHEDULED for Sunday/Holiday parcel delivery unless ALL leave replacement s from BOTH the volunteer and non-volunteer lists ARE SCHEDULED.

-- That will not make the new sub happy, unless he / she likes the additional hours.

You can remove yourself at anytime just as the RDWL, but you have to work the day you are currently scheduled to work, before you can be removed. Write a letter to your pm and round date it. Keep a copy for your self, after asking your pm to initial it.

The 'volunteer' list is a misnomer, or a fiction. The term should never have been used from the beginning. ALL RCA's hires within a hub are expected to work Amazon days. It is part of the job. The RCA have two options. Indicate that they are willing to work any and/or all available amazon days OR be scheduled to work on a rotating basis - theoretically in alphabetical order. No shows should expect to be disciplined. RCA's on hold down may be excluded from amazon days. The hub office PM or assigned OIC (not a clerk) should be responsible for the schedule. A clear line as to who is 'in charge' of scheduling (yea right!!) should be delineated. If all do their part most rotate-rs should only work once or twice a month with leeway to trade days for family events. Extra hub (those not in the hub service region) RCA's should be asked to participate in their nearest hub. All RCA's from outside the actual hub office will be paid e-travel (form 1164-e) from their home office to the hub and back. The form should be processed by the 'home' office.

-- At least they included a "non-volunteer" list when Sunday Parcel work came into being.

-- Of course, manglement could get "volunteers" from the non-volunteer list if they ran out of "volunteers" from the Volunteer List.

Actually, that is not an option listed. It’s a rotation regardless of volunteer or non-volunteer.

New hires have 60 days to choose volunteer or non.

-- My bad - just trying to pare a paragraph from Step 4 ( S-106 ) down to one sentence.

"When it is necessary to schedule rural carrier relief replacements for Sunday / holiday parcel delivery, management will first utilize any ARC's assigned to the hub location or associated 'spoke' offices. If there are no ARC's assigned to these locations or an insufficient number of ARC's, management at the hub location will then select leave replacements from the volunteer list on a rotating basis. If there is an insufficient number of leave replacements on the volunteer list, management will schedule leave replacements from the non-volunteer list, also on a rotating basis."

-- The Step 4 also mentions some instances which leave replacements may be bypassed.

On Sunday's or holidays the "Order of consideration" is:
1) All Arcs
2) All volunteers until the # of positions needed are filled, if less positions than volunteers, they are chosen from a rotation of an alphabetical list of this group.
3) Non-volunteers that are needed after the above are used. A) This group is chosen from a rotation of an alphabetical list of all non-volunteers created from the hub office and all the spoke offices that are worked from this hub.

Now, since most offices are very short on RCA's, in general, anybody they can get works.
