i dont know what to say..missed scan..

Read MOU # 14 in the current contract... sounds to me like they are violating the principles of that MOU, and therefore the contract... grounds for a grievance...

Have you discussed this issue with a stewpot and/or ADR???

ok. i need a quick tutorial on how to find things like this. I tried to search, not finding

Also, if you look at the contract... all of the MOUs are in the back of it... #14 I think is on page 67...

And really that is what is sad.... they can perform to such LOW standards when it comes to supporting carriers in accurately delivering the mail... and yet, as John Wayne is showing us, they expect 100% perfection from carriers or they're gonna threaten discipline....

I remember a day when people would have shown just a bit more respect for the Duke.... just sayin'... Pilgrim....

At my old job, we had "squad meeting" before starting work. We were always being shown sheets with our work stats. I had a running gag where I'd stand up, bow out my chest and say: "Just remember, as long as everyone stays above average, everything will be fine. So, lets all get out there and beat the average, everyone!"

But see... the PO doesn't work that way... as a team I mean.... they compile their little lists to use against their workers, rather than to share them and use them to help improve performance.... no wonder Gallup rates the USPS as one of the most dysfunctional organizations they've ever surveyed... and they've surveyed a LOT.... ?

usps posts results by district....When one hits 98% it is very unusual... 98% that's 2 missed scans per hunded...Next time boss hammers you on a scan, ask to see your district percentage... then say you are beating it, pick on someone else.. pick on me and that is disparate treatment, you know, grievance time..

So now I have a question that goes along with the whole missed scan thing.
With new clerks throwing the parcels in my office every morning, we are seeing a high number of "missorted" packages to the wrong routes. PM/Sup have us going through the packages as soon as we are able, while still trying to do our other route duties. When we find packages for routes that have already left the office, PM/Sup has the City CCA taking them out for delivery.
Scenario, if a CCA delivers the parcel, is that the parcel is scanned correctly at the correct address. What if the CCA doesn't get the scan or the scanner loses it somehow and the parcel can't be accounted for? Now the carrier that was supposed to have delivered it gets back to the office, only to hear that they missed a scan, but they don't remember having a parcel for that address. How can management hold us accountable for a missed scan???? This could very well happen.

PastOThirty et al -- "- Sup hands you a particular package (their word vs yours, who will carry more weight?)"

-- Unless the sup wrote down the name, address, or bar code for the package, maybe 50-50 on whom will be believed. ( hopefully! )

-- Then again, if the package was the only car bumper for the office, well....

The other day I was being accused of missing two scans.

Upon arriving at work today I come to find out one of those parcels was set aside by a clerk and was never distributed to me. The second was distributed to another route and they mis-delivered it. They have an identical street but thiers is "ave" and mine is "lane". This person is a new RCA that is still learning the route so I don't blame them.

The point is though - thier assertions of these so-called missed scans are only guesses and they really don't know what's going on. All they see is an Arrival at Unit scan and no subsequent delivery scan. They place fault and raise hell only to look like fools in the end.

T-P-V et al -- "The other day I was being accused of missing two scans. Upon arriving at work today I come to find out one of those parcels was set aside by a clerk and was never distributed to me."

-- Maybe it is time to start grieving the false accusations. And include "progressive monetary penalties" for future false accusations.

-- Hopefully that will "engage" manglement to do some due dilligence before accusing carriers of "missed" scans. ( probably not )

Perhaps at some point but I don't feel I'm there yet. I'm not threatened and I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about. I let the boss know that neither of these two parcels ever entered into my possession and I wouldn't be able to help him find them. I completed the route and finished a few hours before the new RCA so that's why I still had two outstanding scans. I don't review my scans at the end of the day, or for that matter, perform any other work that I wasn't given credit for during mail count. I get cheated enough by the USPS for tasks that aren't credited. So when he approached me I wasn't expecting it but I knew my facts and handled it.

I'm not the only one it happens to and I think others are more fed up than me. I'm sure I'll be approached and asked if there is something we could do. At that point, we could go in a different direction I suppose.

There are other issues we're focused on at the moment though. I'm trying to look out for the new hires and temper their willingness to do whatever needs to be done vs management taking advantage of someone who doesn't know the contract. There is a lot of "testing the waters" going on.

Not a perfect solution. But a solution that stopped an overzealous PM regarding scans. I would check at end of day. If missing, I would enter tracking number in the USPS app on my phone. I have a USPS account. The tracking number stays until you delete it. PM would question me. I would show , on his computer, it was in Timbuktu or sent to RMPO. I would also look in hamper . I would point out the PM's lack of training carriers and clerks on procedure with missthrows. I usually leave before anyone else. PM has stopped.
I wouldn't show my phone. That just confirmed my theory. I would just say here's the tracking number, look it up.

If you have the Load Truck feature, use it. This will prove what you did or didn’t have it. Ultimately they can’t prove that you did have it at all with all of the misthrows you are getting. Get Stewie or ADR.
