I lost 2 hours

I was a 42K.. I came back as a 40 K my packages have tripled. I make two trips every day so basically I’m going to be working twice as hard for less pay.

Okay Jess. Didn't you do a DPS review awhile back and prevailed ? Okay, that put you on sector sector segment standards. Now, after this count, you go back to DPS standards. Also, since you said it was two hours, go back over EVERYTHING on your paperwork and find corrections. Since this was a special count, if the time does not change two hours or more, there is no change. So, all you gotta do is find something to get inside that two hour window so there will be no change. Now, start analyzing, scrutinizing, etc. and find some time !!!

I also lost 2 hours. I have gone back over everything and only found 1 error which he said he would correct tomorrow. Last week, I took out my paperwork from the special count of 2019. There's only 1 hour difference from then to now and I have A LOT more items on this count than I did on the last count such as dismounts, carrier pickup requests/pickups. My package count is higher this time too. The time standards must have been changed for there to be this much of a difference.

You would have seen it in the pre count conference. Everything should of had a value. Contract Did Not change. Did time standards change for real. What more can they take away?

I just went back over the pre count conference sheets. There isn't a page that gives the time standards for anything in there. What has me confused about the whole count is how much more I am doing now than I did last count and it's not seeming to add up to much.

There have been no time standards changed since the 2018 Spring count.

When you people say you lost "2 hours" , is that standard hours you are looking at ? That's what you gotta look at and then go from there. Then, for any of you that did a DPS review and were counted this time around because of prevailing in the review, there is this recent step 4

I'm not totally understanding this step 4 and I'm unable to find it on the NRLCA website. Can you direct me to the original grievance?

You say you went over all the times and inputs, but did they record everything onto a note or the proper form.
I know I had 1 supervisor I had to constantly tell her she needs to write it down so I have a copy to check and validate.
Also were all your houses closed that were vacant at the time? Open houses will quickly change your volume factor. Is all your stops and footage correct? Parcel lockers, collection points, gated communities?

Magnolia , if I recall correctly and I may be mistaken, you also did a DPS review and prevailed after a battle. So, you went from DPS standards to sector segment standards. I don't know if you are a P.O.V. or LLV/Govt. Vehicle. But here's the deal with that. If you are P.O.V. you went from 30 DPS per minute to 22.5 for sector segment and if you are LLV/Govt. Vehicle you went from 43 DPS per minute to 22.5 for sector segment. There is a bigger "gain" , and I use that term begrudgingly, on the LLV to sector segment than there is on the P.O.V. to sector segment. At any rate, this count put you back on DPS standards so there is that automatic "loss" right there. This "could" be why you "have more" than last count but still "lost" time. It's the change in standards. Kinda' like when you got counted the FIRST time when you got DPS. WOOOOOOOSH, time disappeared but the letters did not. It's the 'ole David Blaine, David Copperfield , etc. magic act , although, this act is nowhere near as entertaining. As far as the grievance link I posted, when you click on it you'll see the GATS number and it might come up in the reference guide for the original grievance but I doubt it. Mount Morris Michigan is on the one I posted.

I have a POV and this morning I jokingly told my Mother that my car makes more than me. I tried searching the number on the NRLCA website and it didn’t come up but I’ll keep searching.

Thinking a sizeable loss here. UPS and our own uptick made up for a good chunk of losing most Amazon, otherwise down everywhere else. DPS down about 20%, no full coverage flats, this Tuesday the Advos weren't addressed and didn't get a marriage card. 2-3 certifides daily compared to 9 last count, some days zip. At 2 minutes a pop, that's over 2 hours alone.

Are you required to use your satchel? We were, so I timed picking up, putting on, putting it back into car, added so much time, got my 2 hour change!

Magnolia and all....................I have edited / corrected my previous post , # 12 , to reflect the correct standard for sector segment mail.
While I did not count this time around, I have been and am currently running numbers for several routes in my office both P.O.V. and LLV that DID count. I have paperwork everywhere . Way too many numbers in my head at the time I originally posted. My bad, I was wrong, I made the mistake. I just did not and do not want to mislead anyone. My apologies to all !!!

I haven't read step 4 since it first came out. What the grievance was after route placed on S/S it was adjusted (probably went into 47 or 48K status). Since 52:00 standand hours or 43k is as low as adjustment is supposed to go, we will assume that.

So route was cut to 52:00 hours and then scheduled for special count the following Sept. Now let's say route lost 4 hours due to difference between S/S and DPS. ............. and for simplifying things... they got the same amount of flats letters, and parcels and all other functions.
Now the route comes back at 48:00 standard hours or a 40K. For the last 20 or so years, we could not get those hours lost because of going on DPS back. (history lesson in middle of all this........... when DPS was first introduced in 93 or 94 routes could get a rebuild of hours lost to DPS standards until the union agreed that no more DPS volume was expected. At that point, one last rebuild was done and that was the end of rebuilds)

This step 4 allows routes that went back on DPS standards after being adjusted to rebuild those minutes/hours attributed to S/S to DPS loss. The grievance would force management to add those 4 hours back to the route. Thereby making it a 52:00 standard hour route.

This imho was a big win for us because management liked to punish carriers who were just making management do their jobs and keep DPS levels at mailcount levels. If management wouldn't cheat at count and run everything in DPS, there probably would never be a need for a review. Even when they do reviews they run everything they can, but the plants don't "push" it like they do during counts. Carriers only recourse is getting a review. When a route is at 45 to 46 K status, most carriers just suck it up and take the crap because they knew they would get route cut and then lose even more when placed back on DPS standards on next count opportunity. Now we can't be punished quite as much as before@!
