I need a Mentor?

Ridiculous. Maybe someone here can tell you if this order is grievable or not, but im not an expert on that. In the mean time, maybe park a little past the cbu, then start putting the mail in while standing at an angle. The truck will still be in your peripheral vision. This will allow you to keep the drivers door open and eliminate the "need" to move your mail back and forth. On occasions where it helps to serve from the back (like a row of 20 cbus) pull down and load that section in the back, seperate from your mounted sections in the front.

Lock up when out of sight is open to interpretation. If the truck is 100 yards away, but i can still see it, id still lock it up. But if the truck is 2 feet behind me, and im not directly staring at it for a couple seconds at a time, then no offense to those that would but no... I wouldn't.

It will get better. You learn the rules after a while. Use your primary route day to work on the small aspects of your craft. Once you get the techniques down, doing routes you dont know that well isnt that bad. Your speed will balance out the wrong turns, house number searching, and extra time spent casing. Overwhelmed shouldnt be in your vocabulary. Take your time, and let management worry about everything getting done. That is their problem, not a new RCAs.

Yes thank you. I did get a chance to speak to the PM today and he says to park ahead of the box so that it is still in sight.. I am so happy I found this group?

The mail in the back of the vehicle when out of site has been around since before my time. Granted, it took less time to throw stuff in the rear of a DJ-5. They can realign the route to accommodate the placement of mail, they can do a base hour change to accommodate the carrier for additional duties. Locking the doors is big right now. Nationwide we are having vehicles broken into and carriers robbed due to checks and parcels increases. In the last week, 18 vehicles and 5 carriers in my district were victimized. Watch your back.
I would ask for your District Representative ( top area steward) phone number to ask these questions. Find out if they even know the carriers are being required to perform under these conditions, they may be unaware.

Thank you and I will contact our district rep.

Hey you know more than you think. Feels as though they keep one so busy on purpose. Keep s ones inner voice quite till the body wears out. Keep up the good work and take care of yourself.

I know my way around a case and am good with navigating but truly I am delivering as addressed, and I don't want to deliver that way. I want to know how to deliver the right way.

Ask WHY? Ask to see it is in writing. Are they worried about being robbed of stimulus checks. Are we talking llv. What do they want you to put up front.... the only rules I know of in llv is no parcels in the driver side wheel well, nothing on dash, nothing on visor, no rubber bands on the gearshifts nothing on floor that could slide under or against your feet. How can you be efficient when everything is in the back....

Yes this order is from the recent theft in the area. I am forgetting parcels and having to loop back time and time again.. I think I may make a list of parcel??‍♀️

Yes. This is now a "thing". Regulars are leaving behind half of their routes and subs are now having to take any mail that is left behind. Yes I had training at the academy but it is nothing like actually delivering a route. This is a new order due to the theft in the area. I have been at my po almost a year, it's so hard to keep track of policies and procedures when you are constantly being moved. I am able to catch on to a new route quickly and feel they abuse that. The stewart has advised the regulars to leave behind whater they can not fit into the cab of the vehicle. I'm not sure if grievances have been filed. Can subs file a grievance??
Oh (expletive deleted) YES!
You have met the 90 working days/one year of service requirement.

You can file a grievance and you don't need to be a union member to do so.
If the steward will not represent you, you can SUE the union.
Usually, in this case, a phone call to the ADR, (union's Assistant District Rep,) or the DR, ( union's District Rep,) will get you proper representation. If they don't back you up with what the contract specifies, you then reach out to Susan Knapp at the union's national headquarters on Duke St.

Many managers will retaliate if you file a grievance. Document this and file on them for retaliation. (They really hate that. )

With all the routes you are delivering, you do not have time to try to figure out the ppl who actuallly live in the residences/apartments etc... Let the supervisor ppl deal with ppl who complain about the previous tenants or past homeowners mail they may get.

DPS is supposed to pull out names with good forwards on file and automatically forward that mail.
That is a failure on the DPS, not on you.
I don't expect any sub to be able to remember the forwards.
I explained to customers who complain about old names that the sub is not at fault if the mail piece has their correct address on it.

Wow
Definitely read the 603.
Located in the black ring binder in slot under the case. Also a stool under there.
I would recommend sitting in full view of supervisor and start reading.
They “tend” to not bother the informed ones as much.
Also recommend starting a work journal, just jot down everyday a little bit about what rt you were on, hrs, volume, anything odd that happened and people, what Sup said to you.. it’s a just in case, not something to flaunt or leave laying around...
I like to CYA.

Ok. I was beginning to feel as if it was impossible...Sups are approaching me about forwards when I'm on a new route and I just look at them and say OK. It causes me to pay more attention to the fwd tags at the case but stresses me when I'm trying to make eval.

I believe this new push of the locking of the vehicles and awareness of having it within your vision is the results of having the stimulus checks on board. This too will pass, give it time and go with the flow, it is intended for your safety its just that Management has gone a little overboard with it!

And now you have just become aware that is not correct.

You have 14 days to file your grievance for all the pay due you.

If you are an RCA driving an LLV, breakdown time is money.

Listen to oi veh! It can add up quickly dollar wise! No way would it be extended lunch unless you plan on eating that money that is rightfully yours. Btw, stop worrying about making evaluations. Management uses the threat of eval for their benefit not yours. Good luck!
