I need clarification on work time / evaluation

Hey everyone gonna try to keep this short -

I’m holding down a 9.2 hour route work 5 days
I try to stay under 40 work hours because I remember being told after you hit 40 work hours you lose all your evaluation.

I just checked my paystub and this is where I am confused..

My first week was fine under evaluation but my next week has me confused -

28.56 work hours
10 hours 2nd trip
1.7 work hours (green card)
1.6 work hours (green card)

I am confused because I got my evaluation plus all the extra time but wouldn’t that put me over my 40 work hours?

Does the 2nd trip not count towards your total work hours? Can someone help me out and better explain this to me because in the rural academy they barely reviewed the pay system and I thought I had it figured out until now.

I'm not sure how you are counting your hours.

When I show up at the PO, to when I finish my route, that's the time recorded on the 4240 (aka timesheet). This INCLUDES time for second trips.

Are you running your second trips after finishing your route, then not recording that time on the 4240?

Also, Welcome to the forums!

The 2nd trip time is not counted in the 40 since you’ve already claimed those hours on your 4240 Time sheets. If you had 38 work hours instead, then you would not have received the evaluation nor the separate 2nd trip time.
We request 2nd trip pay because 2nd trips are not part of the evaluation. If you are paid the evaluation of a route, you are not paid for the 2nd trip. If you actually work over 40 hours, then you are paid for every single minute that you work & the eval is no long applicable.

I complete my route then pick up my packages for the 2nd trip then document it on my 4240 on the side

Well my paycheck shows the 46 hours evaluation in addition to the 10 hours for a 2nd trip plus my two green card times when I went back out to help with route assistance..

You are taking 2nd trips, so you have Amazon parcels, right? If so, how are you NOT going over your evaluation for the week? Most of the rest of us are working 3-10 hours over every week.

Yes, but are you counting your second trip time as route time? I mean, your route is not *completed* until you finish your second trip.

As an example, let's say you report at 7:00 AM, finish your route at 1:00 PM then carry parcels for another 90 minutes. Your 4240 should like something like this :

Report 7:00
Leave 8:15
Return 2:30 <---- when 2nd trip is finished!
Complete 2:50
Lunch 0:15
Annotate in Remarks: mileage and actual loading time 2nd trip

1039.34 / 18.56 = 56
so you got paid for 56 hours (46 evaluated + 10 "2nd trip")

So apparently "2nd trip" hours are overtime hours and they don't count toward the 40 "regular" hours.

Here’s a visual of how it looks exactly

The 46 is the evaluation Which you were paid. You don’t “Clock out” when you start a 2nd trip. You clock out when you get back to the office from the 2nd trip. Therefore, it’s time is counted in your ACTUAL hours from the route. You note how much of that was “2nd trip” & if you keep your ACTUAL hours under 40 total, you get paid EXTRA for the 2nd trip. If you go over 40 ACTUAL hours, then no extra pay is granted.
Put it this way... typically a 2nd trip will force you to work more hours than the evaluation for that day. Meaning you’d be working that 2nd trip for free. Mgmt pays us for that extra “duty” separately. Once you work 40 hours, you are then getting paid hourly & getting paid for the 2nd trip time within the Actual hours.

2nd trip was not Overtime pay. RCA was paid $185.58 for those 10 hours.
I seen that, but it still doesn't make sense.

Shouldn't it be 185.60 and not 185.58 anyway?

That field is poorly coded, it must be pulling a rounded number back out the "1039.34" field to calculate it.

I don't know what you posted above but it makes no sense to me. Can you post a section of your 4240's? That I can read.
It seems to me that you have been doing second trips off the clock, but getting paid the 2 minutes/mile.

It is poorly coded. Pulling out the old calculator, I believe the $185.58 is 2nd trip EMA. If you divide the $1039.34 by 56 hours paid, it equals the straight-time rate of $18.56/hr.
