USPS and NALC have not reached a tentative agreement and negotiations have moved into mediation. The current contract remains in effect while bargaining continues.
πŸ“Œ
Reports from attendees indicate USPS is targeting a package in the neighborhood of $4.5 billion, while some proposals sought by carriers would cost substantially more.
πŸ“Œ
One reported proposal included:
* 1.5% general wage increases for three years
* $750 payments
* Shortened step progression to 40 weeks
πŸ“Œ
Discussion reportedly took place regarding an all-career workforce. Some attendees stated a package reaching approximately $30/hour starting pay and $50/hour top pay was estimated to cost around $12 billion.
πŸ“Œ
4/10 schedules were reportedly discussed, with attendees claiming survey results showed significant member interest and that additional polling may occur.
πŸ“Œ
Multiple attendees reported discussion of AI or data-driven route adjustment systems that would rely heavily on workload and DOIS-type data. Many carriers immediately raised concerns about management influence, route growth, and reduced carrier input in the adjustment process.
πŸ“Œ
Additional reports included:
* No Lead Carrier program
* Continued disagreements over overtime issues
* Discussions involving casing and route evaluation changes

Kinda interesting stuff.

4/10 is really interesting and I don't see that working just like I don't see an all career work force either.

I am curious about the $750 payments. One time deal on contract ratification? or in place of Backpay?

the 4/10 hour days intrigue me a little. would like to know how they plan to do this. only thing I have seen from any city carriers on FB is that it involves a rotating schedule. I feel like that would make the weekends a carrier had to work seem much worse. just my opinion though, I started when K routes were still saturdays off and am trying to get our office enough subs that I can have that

The 4/10 would be a boon the nalc members. Without a salary type compensation, the hourly kicks in for them any day over 8 hours. You could work a total of two 10 hours days a week and get 4 hours of OT. If they push you past those 10 any day...it's automatically 2x pay.

I don't see USPS going for that. It would crucify the payroll with carriers milling hours to 2x pay.

I am curious who posted this ? FB has a lot of BS on it. Just like many sites.

It was one of those NALC union rep. For some reason I can't find it now. But from what I have read online and see elsewhere, most of the stuff is 100% true and backed up by 4-5 people who post on Facebook about the union stuff.

It's amazing how aggressive a real union is when bargaining on behalf of their members.

Yep think about this. The city actually does stuff.

Our union tells us RRECS is working well while many carriers have taken 10K+ plus pay cuts in the last 3 years when the price of everything has gone through the roof.

Not saying city is million times better but they definitely are a lot better on fighting for stuff and asking members about things unlike the rural side.

I don’t see 4/10 ever working unless city restructures entire overtime and 2x pay. By that I mean overtime after 40 hrs in a week and 2x after 50 hrs a week. It actually pending on staffing would be a boon for usps that way.

It is nice to see nalc trying to improve wages and lowering time to top step further. The all career work force could potentially actually help retention a lot. I wish our union would do something in a timeframe wise for careeer for subs.
