How many folks are finding their scanner screen goes blacks and the battery fails partway through the work day without warning, while prior to the latest updates it worked normally? This is the latest managerial plague to affect every route in our office and I am curious if other places face the same challenge for the past couple weeks.

The loss in productivity, scanning accuracy and RRECS data is making this a very big issue here. Naturally there are no spare batteries, scanners or vehicle charging adapters available.

I have a Parent/Child route and everyday, about 1/2-3/4 into my route, my scanner gets glitchy, doesn't want to enter, go through with button presses, and eventually freezes. I have to restart the entire scanner and have gotten used to pulling the battery out each time too. One time I didn't and it restarted the same way as before. I think it happens no matter what scanner I use too. It's like it (the program) eventually gets overwhelmed during my route and slows down, then freezes. Anyone else have this issue?

I have seen the sluggish performance as well on multiple scanners having the issue. It used to be MDDs would warn you they were running out of power and dim the screens to extend runtime but I think there are so many background programs running it is overwhelmed.

@jaymacgthree and anyone else experiencing this dilemma ; If you have City carriers in your office, see if they are experiencing the same issue. Heck, come to think of it , you could check with the clerks and see if their scanner(s) are doing the same thing. I know in some offices, the clerks still use the old brick scanners and I don't know if that would or does make a difference. Best to compare with identical scanners. A bad battery issue can and does occur. If this issue is more widespread than the isolated sole carrier in the office and is only occurring with rural routes, something just might be up. Something to keep in mind as well is that rural carriers generally have a shorter workday in actual hours than do the City carriers and the Clerks. So, that's another possible red flag if the 8 or more hour employees scanner does not run out of power but the less than 8 hour employees does. From what I last understood was that the rural and city had two different contractors / providers for the software.

I have the same problems, have to restart my scanner almost every day. I have also had the screen go black a few times. I can still scan and make noises, though so its not just the battery.

With newest update scanners are slower, started resetting in the morning and afternoon ie load and EoS. Just started today plan on doing it for a week or 2 to see if it improves any.
