is texting a form of communication?

my PM declined my annual leave for a sick appointment and texted me that she declined it. Isn’t she suppose to print and fill it out?

Did she not do both? I would ask her for a denied slip for your records. If you need to soften that you can say it is in case you go over 2080 or whatever. Whole thing is how do they know if you received the texts? I know these days being left on read is a thing and whatnot but pretty sure that is the reasoning why they need to fill out the paper work.

no, I never got the slip back after I filled it out online. She texted me but it went to spam because my phone didn’t recognize it. I didn’t know till i went to my spam folder a week later

they don't provide me a work phone and i don't communicate with my personal phone for work.

If you get an ii be sure to say that you never received your work phone when you got hired. Then when they say you don't get one you say well I don't have a cell phone anymore how am I supposed to get your texts?

Your manager has 3 days to give you a WRITTEN denial even when you put in leave on line. If you didn't receive it in 3 days your leave is approved. If a denied leave slip magically appears with a date 3 days after you requested it, remind your manager that falsifying that (3971) leave slip qualifies him for 5 years in prison or a $10,000 fine. Then ask which he would like, or both if he's unpleasant.
This FACT is written at the bottom right corner of EVERY leave slip and is supported by US statute 18 U S C 1001.
Enjoy your vacation, you earned it.

Union rep TOLD ME DIRECTLY to use my cellphone to take pics and receive texts from PM. Every carrier, city and rural, gets texts from the PM daily. So much for relying on union for right decisions.

We're in the process of trying to get our pm fired and for some reason this hasn't moved the needle. We've got several instances of him backdating leave slips, his boss is aware, they've been grieved, but still nothing. His boss hates him and has more than enough reason to fire him, it's hopeless.

Your Union Rep is wrong.
My DR backs us carriers on the texting issue. There is documentation on the subject whether it be through the scanner or our personal phones.

I block mgmt that abuses the use of my phone number.

To make your point. Start texting the days you want off. When she tells you must fill out 3971 say fine don't text me back - i need the 3971 (either way)
