Leave, Replacements!

Seriously, just leave - you're taking away my shifts!

So nice of USPS to go on a hiring spree and over-hire with the summer slowdown hitting hard and early...

---

Option 1. Work every day for weeks on end, past your evaluation time, and with no days off = NO LIFE.

Option 2. Have no mail, no shifts, no money = NO LIFE.

Option 3. You are a RCA, you have no options = NO LIFE.

---

One more day for job hunting...

I used to be able make a living as an RCA, now with all the new RCA's hired we are overstaffed and only working one day a week.

Yep~~~ No Money

And we finally get ARCs, and they're instantaneously turned into RCAs adding to the "everyone's-employed-but-no-one's-working" list...

PointAtoB -- "And we finally get ARCs, and they’re instantaneously turned into RCAs..."

-- According to Page 25 of the Power Point Presentation for the ARC, instant conversion to RCA should not be happening: They must apply for any desired RCA positions and may not automatically convert to an RCA vacancy.

-- Unfortunately, MOU #13 of the new contract isn't that specific, only mentioning the "Implementation Guidelines."

-- Have the office steward or Assistant District Representative ask manglement for the ARC-RCA's paper work and to see what hiring list was used.

-- Page 3 of the new contract -- Assistant Rural Carriers are those employees selected from a hiring list, without time limitations.

-- Could not find any info in "arc" / "assistant rural carrier " in the KNOWLEDGEBASE.

Anyone newer than like 6 months should quit and go to city side. You make more with more benefits and now you make career guaranteed in 30 months per new contract.

The Postal Service converting ARC's to RCA's is very similar to the old TRC position.....hire them off the street and vet them into a RCA position. It made for girlfriends, mistresses, wives, husbands, parents, children and little buddies fulling positions.....which isn't a bad deal..if you can get that gig.....and if the PM's and Supervisor could be objective and treat them like a vetted employee.....it didn't happen at our PO. Then once they "get in" push out the Regular Carrier, the one that didn't work the system, did the work, wasn't the PM's little buddy,....it just causes problems. The Postal Service has a "cred" and loyalty problem.

Some of the Rural Academy classes don't differentiate between arc and rca new training, but give the rca training to both. In that case the arc can convert to rca when there is a rca position open. If the arc hasn't had the rca training they must go back and receive it before converting to rca.

Do what I do. Go to other offices for the hours. We're almost fully staffed in my office (4 RCAs for 3 K routes and 2 J routes). Almost no hours to be had there. I'm in OT weekly though. It's just a matter of finding a place that needs help. Ask your PM which offices are always needing help or always paying out bunches of OT.
