LLV route to POV?

14 route office, all LLVs, senior reg carrier (that i trust) told me that PM said the next time someone retires she'll be taking the LLV away (doing what with it Idk) and making it a POV route. Im next in line, can she do this? 14 routes will have LLVs and mine wont? No aux routes in office.

Office used to be all POVs then converted to all LLVs 10 years ago or so, she wants them all back to POVs.

Last year when an LLV route was posted for bid they changed it to POV. I thought it was due LLV shortage, don't know for sure.

-- Either the PM is up on postal procedures or just one of those "I can do whatever I want" types.

-- Step 4 ( L-96 ) in part:

- ...a USPS provided vehicle may be removed from an encumbered regular route with the written consent of the assigned carrier and manager; and from any VACANT or AUXILIARY rural route at MANAGEMENT'S OPTION.

- However, in accordance with this instruction, the removed vehicle is to be redeployed on another operationally-advantageous rural route, rather that being assigned to another facility.

-- Might want to give your Assistant District Representative a heads up on this in case the PM is planning on shipping the LLV off to another office.

"14 routes will have LLVs and mine wont?"

-- Shouldn't that be 13 routes will have LLV's? and your's won't?

-- Only if you and the ADR let her.

-- Will be interesting if the PM claims to want the LLV as a spare.

-- Of course, you could claim it would be "operationally-advantageous" to have the LLV on your route.

-- Just in case, do you have a route capable vehicle ( or two )?

BTDTRET beat me to it with the L-96 but this also is to be considered..........................there are totally different standards for DPS and FSS for an LLV and a P.O.V. Right off the top, the route will "lose" 30 minutes a week for checking/fueling LLV. That may in and of itself drop the route evaluation into the next LOWER hour. Your DPS and FSS in LLV are both at 43ppm while for a P.O.V. the DPS is 30ppm and the FSS is 17ppm. So, there would be yet ANOTHER way of shorting you the pay to which you are entitled. They would have to go back to the most recent count data and remove the Gov't vehicle and that "should" correct the standards. Depending upon the current evaluation of the route, they may NOT want to remove the vehicle if it would cause the route to "go up" due to the change in standards alone even with the loss of the 30 minutes a week for the LLV. Keep all of this in mind as well as the above post and give your steward, ADR, or whoever a heads up so you all can be PROACTIVE on this and NOT wait until the damage is done and you are trying to get pay adjustments done and back pay, etc.

1.) Shes one of those do whatever she wants types
2.) Our area steward came to our office the same day that conversation took place. Hes only ever visited our office once (he's buddy buddy with PM)
3.) Yes, youre correct. 13 routes, I don't give honest office specifics, it was a made up number but close to the real number
4.) I do not have a route capable vehicle but would purchase a quality RHD if I had to. Ive done Aux routes on POV and no way could I do that day in and day out sitting on a pillow in the middle of a sedan
5.) Thank You!
