Load truck scan confusion

Hello,

I'm hearing conflicting stuff on the Load Truck feature.. I haven't been using it; I typically just throw my packages in order and go. Got some co-workers saying we should utilize it because it may help boost evaluations. When and what is the correct method of doing these scans, and does it actually help out the evaluations?? Please shed some light, and TIA!!

No but yes.

Load truck does not help your evaluation.>>>>>but

RRECS - STARTLOADVEH**** - back out to main and the only option is LOADTRUCK to scan parcels as you are loading and ordering them, showing confirmation you are taking them for delivery that day, taking more time than you otherwise would normally - back out to main - RRECS - ENDLOADVEH****

Between the **** is where you get time towards your evaluation. If you follow that procedure you are using load truck to do it, managment gets happy having it used, you add time doing a task you otherwise would be doing but now with a scanner, and it protects you from not having a parcel that your manifest otherwise said you had since you never scanned Load Truck.

Again; No, but Yes.
Edit to add, the time between **** is straight minute counting, no metrics involved. Averaged to the week, but straight minutes.

Once you are in load truck--hit esc & then load truck will show up., That is how we have been instructed in my office. Management wants us to use the loss truck feature.

I was told load truck is a city function it's not for the rural craft because they get a great hourly pay. If management wants you to use it then all I can say is watch out!

Load truck does nothing, in itself, to help our evaluations. The scans don't count, it's not necessary for carriers that know the route, and it was originally made for new carriers.
We all put our parcels in order using some method. Those of us using the "Load truck" DURING LOADING TIME, get ALL of the time associated with placing your parcels in your vehicle in order, paid for in extra loading time.
If you take the time to place your parcels in order in the office, you are LOOSING up to 1/2 hr that you could be earning for your route's evaluation.

A few months ago we were told packages have to be in order before load time starts. Anyone else told that? I just kept doing things the way I always have and haven't heard anything since

What you were told is not accurate. From The 603 ;

262 Loading Vehicle
262.1 General
Load all mail in the vehicle so that it is in sequence of delivery to ensure that
no time is lost on the route searching for the proper bundles and parcels or
containers

From The M-38 , section 344.26

.26 During the loading process, the carrier places the parcels in sequence of delivery in the
vehicle.

Exactly I get asked once a week to start doing it. I politely decline and tell them once I am unfrozen maybe I will start doing it pending where route lands eval wise, to be fair I am expecting to land at or around 47k+ again. Why do more things I won’t get fairly paid for to only get cut again and start this process again.

I get it upper management pushes them to ask. They ask report to upper they asked, nothing changes and they don’t get yelled at. Win win in mine and my management book.

in a way, its like getting paid to mark your packages. The way i do things does not play nice with load truck, and im too stubborn to change my ways. Ive been a carrier for 20 years now, and pretty much have figured out the most efficient way to do things. And as we all know, the postal way is not the efficient way. I keep thinking im gonna change, but it just annoys me so much.

If none of you want to gain extra time by using the "Load truck" method that's fine, but at least place your parcels in order, directly into your vehicle while on loading time. That way you get paid to place your parcels in order instead of doing it for "free", or just for the small amount Rrecs allows for it, in the office.

I do for first half second half it’s Tetris and I don’t care what order, space is the final frontier in pov with Amazon. I do understand your reasoning and wish I could so I didn’t have to reorganize half way thru. It’s also my normal potty break so it works.

Something for you to check on. Have your manager pull up your load times at the end of the day. Look and see if you actually get any loading time after you enter depart to route. I don't think you will find any load times after hitting depart2rt, Unless you are on PM casing, as when doing 2nd trips.

We in Portland Maine were visited by postal inspectors and the rules are you do load truck function when you load your truck not sorting in office .some of our carriers were using load truck function while sorting pkgs inside which inflated their evaluation.also when helping out on other routes you have to come back and complete route before collecting other route items and repeat process including load truck etc and that was also inflating their evaluation

Carriers can do load truck inside without being on loading time. That however, gives no extra time for using the function, so why do it? It is useless, unless you're new to the route, or using it to increase your loading time.

You are wrong per postal inspector.

Read carefully. Load truck function can be done anywhere. While inside using that function, you can NOT be on loading time because you are not loading into your vehicle. Inspectors or not, they have no say in you using load truck without an extra cost to the USPS, only if you are using it to increase loading time, while not loading.
