Mail Count

Does the person conducting the mail count have to be at a higher level pay, or can anyone do it? Also do you get a scan credit for depart to route, and return to office scan?

-- That question should have been asked at your Office Pre-Count Conference! Did your office hold one?

- If not, probably a good reason to be included in your statement why you don't want to sign off on the Mail Count numbers.

- Mail counters that I worked with were mainly retired post masters or supervisors. So as far as being in a higher level pay, that would be up for debate.

-- People conducting the mail count should have attended a Count class / school. You could ask to see their Count School Certificate, but don't be surprised if you get a look from the individual like "Deer smearer's" avatar!

-- In the days of old, there were 6 mandatory scans:

- start tour
- begin load
- end load
- depart to the route
- return from the route
- end tour

-- Probably more mandatory scans by now. Anyone??

There is no “load scan” unless the office is one from the original RRECS Pilot Program & are still using it.
There’s never been a LOAD scan in my office that I’m aware of in at least the last 16 yrs.
