This is just my option which doesn't mean much but I think we soon are going to the time clock so mail counts won't matter, rdwl list will no longer exist, 2080/2240 will no longer be a issue and our union officials will continue to drop the ball but keep raising their dues. In which open season im stopping mine.

What are you basing your opinion on ?

My career and knowing new contract time and new pmg cut backs and the fact they've always try treating us like city side, now we even have a Lil dress code in place besides shoes for arrow keys. New time study magically isn't turning out like planned so that will be the excuse to clock in and out. Plus last 8 years or so only thing our union does is help managment convert us. Last 2 years being on the rdwl doesn't matter they just stop working you when they feel like it because of made up hours and union says ok. So that rdwl list is null and void isn't worth the paper its printed on. So like I said its just a bunch of little things put together to make a bigger picture in my option is all no real basis.

You cant drop union fees during open season. You have 10 days from the anniversary date of signing up to cancel. Just like everything else there's a process. I cancelled mine paid to much for to little. I gave myself an instant pay raise!
Thanks for the information but I have to first change my insurance in open season but I didn't know the other. Thank you

Time clock! Oh i, me, myself think its a great option only if our union handles it the right way so maybe not at the same time? You know I'm dreaming and wishful thinking here when I say in a perfect world when before they decide these mom's and make changes to contract and change wordings and do all they do it would be possible to send out the plan first to all members and non members for us to click like or dislike let us have a say so, because some of the junk they decide is totally not even common sence! Yes im dreaming! Lol

Let me add with this pandemic we can't have meetings which are worthless in my option so why can't we have a remotely interactive system like the schools college people that work from home etc. With a like or dislike option with a time limit that we can see the totals. How hard is that and costs so much less than the traditional we are used to.

-- Actually city carriers, who are hourly and on the time clock, do have "mini-counts" which help determine their "8-hour" day.

-- Sometime manglement will accompany the city carrier on the route.

-- It all ends with "demonstrated ability" of how much mail they can deliver in 8 hours.

-- They also have a form they can fill out to let manglement know how much additional time the city carrier may need to complete the day.

-- ( IMHO ) 2080 and 2240 will continue to be an issue as they are part of the Fair Labor Standards Act ( Federal government's Department of Labor )

-- The only "open season" for dropping out of the union is the 10 days surrounding your anniversary date.

2080/2240 is all about evaluations and how to protect the carrier from being over worked and under paid and with evals gone their wouldn't be a need for that. Yes city are counted but I believe there standards are way better than ours. You can't have rural carrier insurance and not be a member of the union so open season changes for insurance is first for me.

I only support it if its the same as the city and clerk options: sign up sheet by our time clock gives them the option of only working 8 OR
Sign up for: 10, 12 and holiday/drop(relief)day

Have you ever filed a grievance when something isn't going your way? Alot of people gripe about things but yet they won't take the initiative to do anything about it...maybe you do, I don't know...I know when anyone gets in trouble they sure seem to want the union with them then....we do have a weak union (it's members are the union too) but I'd hate to see what things would be like without it....

On the theory of going hourly under Louie in next contract...

There would have been a National count this year. He realizes we are the butter for the toast and carry more on a day to day basis with the least amount of cost or OT paid out.

Over hours for their time frame? We as a craft have to burn AL/SL to keep a paycheck coming in when that happens. A sweet deal for them.

Just saying... If we went hourly and those extra OT hours are a factor for our high 3. Imagine the extra $s in retirement costs for them.

A statement was made about upper management hire freeze. I get that. But would it not result into more Supers or 204bs hire?

Last week my OIC got an email to check and verify the vans and LLV mileage. They sent out 204b for this task. I asked why because I thought this was info from scanner went to Mothership directly. To my surprise they said no. They have to input this info on their program daily and send it on.

I walk into POOM in charge tomorrow. Until when I don't know.

Frankly I'm not understanding how you and a few others seem to be able to know/read Louie's mind...I can understand stepping back and seeing what the heck is going on (basically we don't have a choice) but to be such cheerleaders is beyond my comprehension...And I sure as he!! don't need nor want any overtime just to make the same thing I'm already making!

Uuhhhmm...your overtime is currently factored towards retirement. Hourly employees do not have that option.

Well, 6 of one half a bakers dozen... hourly employees can apply more money to tsp or other money market accounts for greater return than the pension probably offers, so it is sort of a wash I think in that regard.
By comparison, strictly money-wise because there's plenty of pros and cons in terms how it's "earned" - a first step city carrier makes about $4,200@year more than a 40K rural.
This continues to the last step for each with a difference of $3,600@year. That's a big chunk over a 20-30 year career.

Though doubtful the wage/hrs worked were ever exactly the same, my understanding is that much of the disparity stems from the cumulative effect of us getting suckered into a low COLA deal years ago at contract time. The NALC and APWU went to arbitration and got such a better deal that the NRLCA went to the NLRB to get it changed and was told to stick with the agreement.

End of month mileage goes into AVUS which is separate from scanner miles. Another example of the post office having multiple programs, none of which communicate with each other, so EAS has to enter same information multiple times. (hunch that it's sorta designed that way to create more work for management, so more are needed.....) The right way to do it? All information entered on one database, and programs extract information from it. Never going to happen. Management is as paranoid about security as an out of meth addict.
