I've never heard of this. And, someone can correct me if I'm wrong, I thought I read in the RRECS guide that we are given x amount of time for reload based on the volume we have. This request would be additional to that time, so I would ask how you would be compensated for the additional work. 8127? Is it a regular occurrence that could be captured during mini count? If no additional pay, I'd have a talk with a steward and potentially file a grievance.
What about this request to secure mail in the back during lunch bothers you?
Probably all the extra time it takes. Yes, there may have been an occasion where someone smashed in the windows to take things? but I know for a fact there have been carriers who have been confronted by someone with a gun or killed by someone with a gun. So yes things happen....

You never leave the door open after that 😂. Pretty sure we have all done it. Had a goat get in my POV and eat my peach. Never left door open/ajar again.
I had a cat climb in the back of my POV when I was an RCA. I headed down the driveway and heard a noise in the back and calmly let him out the door. I have never left the door open again on a package delivery. :D
