New AUX carrier about option

I'm new auxiliary carrier just started. I took 5/1 option but I heard I could change to 6 days option if I want to. Is it true? If so, how am I gonna do? I asked PM but she said she needs to ask somebody in upper level, LOL. I wonder somebody here know.

-- Just give the PM a memo stating you want to work the AUX 6 days a week. ( that way you are earning annual and sick leave EVERY DAY while working the AUX. ) Just working for the $ when assisting elsewhere.

-- Starting with the 2015-2018 contract AUX carriers can be utilized just about any where AFTER completion of the AUX route.

-- If a member of the NRLCA, you can navigate inside the home page to find the "Designation 79 Option Form" which is part of Step 4 ( A-124.57 ).

-- Try searching for "elect to serve aux 6 day per week" or "option form for 6 day assignment.

-- Or ask your office steward to get the form for you, or the Assistant District Representative if no office steward.

-- You could ask the PM for the form, but doubt if the PM would have it. You could be really mean and file a grievance because according to the PO-603's Section 142.3 Equipment and Supplies. The USPS supplies ALL additional necessary equipment, supplies, and FORMS. ( but I'd cut the PM some slack to ward off any negative feelings in the future )

-- Could not find the form here at RI, though probably didn't have the correct wording in the search box.

Thank you. Our former AUX when she was running as 5/1 AUX, she always mentioned about she would pick 6/0 option if she could do over again, so I was thinking I cannot change it once I selected, but somebody in our office told me today, I can change it later, so I wanted to make sure. So It doesn't matter to change before or after my 90 days probation periods? I can change it anytime if I want to?

Also my probation is 90 working days or 90 days calendar years?

I had a 5/1 aux, and I thought many times of going to 6-0, but never did. I think, you just have to write a letter/note to the PM person stating you want to switch to 6-0. If I am wrong, let me know  !
I didn't know about leave earning stuff, so I'm reconsidering to choose 6/0 now.

Seems like our PM doesn't know anything about AUX route, LOL.

Even if you opt for the 6 day only AUX run, they can and will use you for splitting a route(s) . If this happens you serve your AUX run first then return to office and do the extra.

As a recent example... our 6 day Aux runner is assigned to cover their AUX run in house and run to another Aux (still under the 12 rule) office miles away to cover another AUX run under our APO/RMPO next Tuesday.

There are no clear rules for AUX runners. I was one for 7 years. You are still considered as an RCA and must obey those rules.

I understand. Fortunately, we have enough sub to cover in our office though occasionally splitting a route ( rarely) . Also my aux route is 6 hours so I thought it's better to choose 6/0 than 5/1 for purpose of earning leave.

Our 70 year old sub is going regular in a couple months.
I'm not really happy for him ?.
What does that say about me... please don't reply, I already know
